Expired domain and backlinks

    Hi there,

From my research, Google will "reset" the PR for the expired domain so you won't be able to get any merit from the expired domain as a new owner. What I would like to know is whether Google (or other search engine) will ignore the effect of the existing links. For example, if a expired domain has a few high quality backlinks with very good anchor text pointing to the site, will I, the new owner, get any benefit from those quality links (in terms of SERP, not PR)?

Will Google ignore those quality links as well?

    Hello,

Google will not reset the PR if the site keep the backlinks. I have had a couple of domains with PR and they keep the PR, of course these domains need to keep the backlinks...

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that as long as the original backlinks weren't removed, PR and SERP will remain the same?

Exactly ;) SERPS you will need to work on the site's keyword saturation as well since the old site content is deleted.

Yep. I'll vouch for that. I have about 40 domains that kept PR from the last update. It all depends on backlinks from other sites.

BTW. If anyone is selling expired pr domains. I wanna know!!! I'll buy them subject to terms.

    Col :)

PR is reset if the backlinks are lost, domains remains unregistered or parked for a long time.
