what's the best opensource PHP CMS system?
I want to have a website of mine, but I know little about program,I want to have opensource PHP CMS system, which has the following feature:
    1: opensource,so I can make minor customization.
2: it combine at least news + forum function. For I need those two function.
3: popular, so I can get more support online.
4: fast speed and stable, I have a dream that my site will be big one day.

Maybe it's like daydreaming and free lunch, but If there is really one match above feature, please tell me.
    Thanks in advance.

Depends if you're looking to invest a little money into it or just want something free.

I recommend wordpress because there's a huge buzz arround it and you have thousands of little widgets and add-ons + themes that I don't think you'll ever need to touch the code.

Just because something is a current buzz word does not mean it's necessarily a good thing. My experience with wordpress wasn't too great, it's a decent program, but it's setup pretty much as a blogging environment and I don't think it's really that versatile, there are better solutions.

at the office, we use Typo3 it's the most advanced I've seen.... it depends on your goals... the learning curve of Typo3 is slow at the begining... but after that you'll not have limitations....

a bunch of extensions exists and you can code your own extensions.

    Thanks for everyone's reply.

I think Wordpress is only for blog? I want news + forum combination.

Typo3 is good, but I'm a little worried about if it's too difficult for me,I'm looking forward to something easy to use.

I once thought about Mambo/Joomla + SMF,but someone said Joomla need a lot of system resource, and it's not good for big site, and not friend to search engine.

    I'm still confused now.

    BTW:
    Does typo3 has following feature?
1:is it friendly to search engine?
2:is it fast? or at least not slowly?
3:it has some free good technical support?like forum who can answer my simple question?
4:is it has news+ forum function?

If typo3 has those feature, I'll try to grasp it.
Or any other option is also welcome.

    Looking forward to more solution.
    Thanks.

To me a key to open-source is popularity, the last thing you want is to use software that then stops being developed / supported. I used to use bblog for blogs which stopped being developed - moving across to wordpress was just a pain.

So look for well used, well supported software - Joomla seems to be the CMS that meets that criteria the best at the moment.

You can use Wordpress as a CMS, but it's not fully functional and you'll need to customise it a lot to get all the functionality you're looking for.

1:is it friendly to search engine?

YES! Very... do a Google search for "typo3 forum" I tend to come up first or second.

2:is it fast? or at least not slowly?

TYPO3 is fast if you configure it correctly. It does tend to be a bit more resource hungry than other CMS's however it also has an advanced caching system and can publish static HTML pages.

3:it has some free good technical support?like forum who can answer my simple question?

Yes. I have a forum but since I can't post links yet as a peon I click on my profile and homepage.

4:is it has news+ forum function?

Yes, TYPO3 has a very advanced news system that can be extended as a Blog with features similar to Wordpress.

drupal.org is very good, I've used it with some of my sites and it integrated great. I'd also vouch for wordpress.org very good system.
