Okay im reading loads of stuff on proxies everywhere, I understand a proxy is basically a way to connect to stuff privately. But why is everyone talking about how a proxy can get you traffic, if someone could explain this to me that would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

do you want to own a proxy? or what is your question. Proxies are a necessity. they get traffic cause people need them.

A proxy can't get you traffic. Don't waste anymore time studying them.

    You are wasting your time.
I have asked questions regarding proxies for months now, on different forums, , and nobody is willing to give a straight answer about them.
My questions are usually answered with questions.
I figured most of it out for myself, and the rest, I really could care less, cause I don't want one, or need one.

this is very true its a gold rush i believe but honestly im trying to just get the basics straight here. So basically a proxy site is just a site where you can access stuff thats blocked so like from universities and the workplace is this correct, if yes, what makes proxy sites so popular and why would google rank proxy sites high?

I have a question though for experienced proxy owners.

Are most proxies visitors school kids? If that's the case, then come summer break how much traffic to expect? eg a 90% drop?

BTW, anyone knows when the summer break start and end?

Yes. For the most part proxy users are kids, more college kids than anything else.

You will see a pretty big drop-off, everyone does, however you can maintain enough traffic to get you through summer, most of the time it will be just enough to pay for your VPS.

Be careful through, most proxies don't have a long shelf life, you WILL get blocked from school networks and workplaces eventually.

I wrote a few short articles on proxies, it's a series actually, nothing groundbreaking, but for proxy noobs they are very useful, excuse the dust though, I'm remodeling.

People used proxies for the following reasons only.

    1) To bypass school filters
    2) To bypass work filters
    3) To bypass country filters
    4) To hide their identity

I experience around half the revenue on weekends, so I expect it to be around there for the summer.

Idea is to sell off a proxy that's old, since it's blocked by many, but you've got good stats to inflate the sale =)

Wait till late august / early sept. To start a proxy and worry

I went from 2-3k uniques per day to 98 per day. So don't worry right now.

Yea, it'll sour your proxy experience otherwise.

Only the larger networks will stay in business for the summer. I'm adding another 5 established proxies this week, just to give the network a little something to keep visitors coming. It's going to be a rough summer, but it's a circle of life. The weak proxies will die.
