Is the script you are looking for have required to have the ability to check reciprocal links, or is it simply a directory of outbound links?

    thanks for responding will.

i think just a directory of outbound links through an automated submission and verification process... so it would need some good admin skills but the checking of reciprocal links would be great too.

any opensource or free ones would be great.. :)

    I use this one: http://www.biz-directory.org/directory_script.php

Its very simple, indexs well and isn't difficult to customise the display (although you wouldnt think so looking at most of the sites that use it)

Oh and it's free, no recip checkin tho

I have a client who uses Reciprocal Manager and there are many things I'm frustrated with (it doesn't have any options for bulk editing...every process takes multiple clicks and pages...so slow), I can't recommend it.

I've been doing a lot of link manager research and just purchased http://www.wsnlinks.com/. It's incredibly full featured and totally SEO friendly (mod-rewrite is built in. It's very affordable at less than $50 for a full license. They also have a free version.

I did a review on it here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=9752

    Good luck.

Well, everything depends on what features are you looking for. Every script has its own strength and weekness. I had build a web directory which is now the first version.
It support XML sitemap generator for your directory. You can find it at freshmeat.net

Linker at the top of your list was a script I spent many hours customizing and changing. I still have some installations running. Unfortunately, whoever originally wrote the script is no longer doing much to support it. I really liked it.

    David,
Are you planning to add any new features to your script? Your directory is very easy to install and customize. Right now you have "Vote" option but actual ratings are not displayed next to the listing. And I would love to see "subdirectories"
Other than that script is working flawlessly.
    Thanks!

Sorry -- never even heard of a script like that.

You might consider having once coded for you.

Plus trying script sites, and no go for something like this.
Scripts to host forums, even scripts to host sites, etc.

Now the hard way is just set up directories, one at a time, sub-domained, on your site and then offer them up to others to run.

But if ever you find such a script, you would do me and probably a few others a big favor if you let us know asap.

    definitly i'll inform you guys
but i already know a couple of sites that offer directories
and they do not create one at a time
and when they decide to add a link they do it on your directory
wether you aproved or not , kin of centralised
    i think it's a coded script
but anyway if anyone runs into such a script
    please let me know :D
