Well I have a very good site now averaging about 4k uniques/day right now, theres probably only 10 websites like this in all of the internet.. I put my link on DP for a day and that same day I see about 5 people copied ALL of my content MY WHOLE IDEA, and have a template 80% like MIne but with a different logo! I am so pissed I am never posting another link on Dp!:mad: About 3 people have done this and their site is now in there Sig! Now this idea will get to people just like proxies and directories and all those worthless unoriginal things..ARGH!

I guess even links in sig might hurt web sites more than boosting the SERP or PR

The same damage might be caused by directories listing as well ( My web site is listed in more than 200 dirs and none of them was recognized by Google as a backlink - what a waste of time:confused:)

In Google Analytics I could see webmasters are digging on my web site links. Could they be from DB?

I would have thought that would be common sense. This is a forum where half the talk is about making money with websites and just about every category has a new thread in it where someones begging for ideas. What did you expect to happen when you posted a link to your big money maker?

It could happen anywhere. If it's online, you run the risk of somebody copying it. that's just the way of the world.
Sorry that happened to you, but you can't blame the forum.
The web as a whole is full of people looking for an easy buck, not a hard earned well deserved one.
It's a mad, although futile scramble to see who can pull a few easy, quick adsense bucks without doing any real work in Search engine Marketing, Development, or Creativity.
The herd will thin soon enough, just like day trading in the 90's.

I doubt theres only 10 on the whole internet. Also if they realise its getting traffic etc then they know it has chance to make money they've spotted an oppurtunity just like you did.

Another thing is that dont keep your site a secret becuase if you do you get no traffic and then no revenue! ;)

Ouch, sorry about what happened. Unfortunely in this world, people choose money over dignity.

This would help stop it from happening: http://www.iwebtool.com/html_encrypter

You should post the usernames of who did this, and get a mod/admins attention. I think they deserve to be banned, this is a forum where we help eachother.. Not steal eachothers ideas and more importantly their entire site design :/

This could happen anywhere. Crap, I better take all my sites offline. :)

Actually, DP helped you if you know their usernames. Shed the light on them and let everyone else know what they did.

It sure is better than getting ripped and not knowing it.

This is a valid statement really. I generally only have my lowest performing site or a test site I'm playing with in my sig. I also make sure that the server it is located on is with my other test sites, not on my main hosting server.

There are many webmasters looking just for that one niche/idea that could make them extra $$$ and having such a site in your sig would simply facilitate any stealing of ideas.

It sucks, but that's just the way it is. You do have to reveal your site to the world eventually as others have said on this thread, but doing it on DP is a bad idea. There's just too many people lurking here who can't think of anything original and are ready to jump on someone else's idea.
