All of the pages on my site use underscores. I have heard that Google does not parse the individual words unless I use dashes. I want to change all of my pages from underscores to dashes. Is there a way to un-index all of my underscore pages and have them be replaced by all of my dashed pages? Or do I have to have redirects on all of my underscore pages to my dash pages? I hope that made sense...
Hello, I hope this process can take time, this is my idea.. first disallow in the robots.txt the pages (sorry I dont know how many pages you have), in a couple of month, replace it with the new pages with -, or you can make both at same time but your pages with - could become as duplicate... As said seo, there are many pages ranking top ten in Google with _, don't worry to much about it, try to win backlinks to your site and add more content... My 2 cents, Jakomo
Wrong? I don't think so. There are several places where you can find the information that words with dashes are parsed as separate, while words with underscores are not. Examples: flag_case --> must type "flag_case" flag-case --> could type "flag case" or "case flag" or "flag" or "case" You might not have problems with Google, I don't doubt that, but I have heard that having keywords in the url is a plus. Underscores don't allow this to happen. As for how many pages I have, there are 39. I only want 5 of them to be changed to dashes however. I'll wait and see if anyone else has an opinion before I do anything.
