I think I overdid it...

I started a website about 3 months ago and I think I might have overlinked for a certain term. About 80% of my links are one term for the anchor and most of my other links have that term within their anchor.

I guess I can't complain about serps I'm number 30 on google, 20 on yahoo and 1-3 (depending on the day) on MSN for the term I feel i might have overlinked for.

I have about 125 backlinks, and around 5-10 relevant reciprocal links.

I guess my question is, will I get nailed for overlinking a specific term? If so, how badly will it effect my serps? Can it be reversed by linking for different terms?

Linking with only one term looks unnatural. It is better to mix the terms up. Uses variations of the word as well as related words.

If you haven't seen a drop in the serps then it probably hasn't hurt you yet.

Not necessarily. There is no predicition on how it will affest your serps. Though when you get your results come to me and say you were right. Cause its not going to effect you much.;)

With only 125 backlinks, I think have nowhere near reached an amount that could be considered "overlinking". If that was the case big websites that consistently growing the amount of backlinks to them at rates of 1k+ a day or more would all be banned.

The key is how you are linking them, where your linking them, and finally what the time span has been of those links going live. The best way to avoid any of the concerns you might have is keep mixing up the anchor texts structure and you should be fine.

I'd say that with only 125 links you probably don't have much to worry about.

If your links are coming from relevant websites then you should be on your way up the SERPs. In either case, keep building links and mix up the anchor text if you are feeling paranoid. :)

I don't think you are in any danger with only 125 links. But it would be good to start mixing them up a bit...

It would also depend on the total number of recently added links, if you added 3000 links and 125 of them have the same anchor text it is no big deal but if you only added 125 and they all have the same anchor text I would suggest you start to change your anchor text.
