Directory Advertising Pitfalls

I bought lots of advertising for my various directory and directory related projects and I have been checking to make sure my ads are still up and have met with some troubling results. Hoping other members can help me hook up with the right people to fix them up. It seems a bunch of pages are not loading for me too so hoping someone else might be able to figure out if these are really down or blocked from my somehow. These all come from bookmarks where I jot down the purchases I made and confirm that they are live, so I was able to access these pages at some point in the past.

Thanks in advance and green rep for all those that can help me out.

http://www.arcadecan.info/ bought three permanent links and site is gone
http://www.directoryfrog.com 3 x one year with descriptions only two improper ones up under sponsors
http://www.yellowpageswebdirectory.com/index.php 2 in column for one year
http://www.bestcelebnews.info/ 3 x one year links not opening
    http://www.celebritydiary.info/ 2 x one year not opening
    http://www.thefirstpick.com/html/web-links.htm 2 x 1-year links not opening
    http://www.precharge.net/forums/ 4 x one year links only 2 showing
http://www.smfusers.com/ 3 x one year, dont see any
    http://www.internethow.com/ one year link?
    http://www.gradski.net/, page not showing
http://www.ismip5.com/submit.php not loading 6 month link end oct.
    http://www.sednax.ws/submit.php errors loading

I am curious on a site like the one below I just noticed the strange URL, did someone trick me by showing me an extra copy of the home page they created and then deleted it?

http://www.hollywoodcentral.us/a/ 4 x one year links. page not showing

Not unlikely. I have seen it all, especially amongst the QBC crowd. Sometimes a link gets deleted unintentional, like during an upgrade. Let's keep this thread running and clear things up. Looks like Jeff's list is going to get crowded soon.

Is this going to be another directory black list?

Oppose to the topic, we should have a directory white list ;)

I should clarify that I am not making any accusations of fraud against these sites. This is more of an 'additional information' required kind of endevour and because the list had grown so quickly I was hoping for help from fellow members to clear some of these up.

I make mistakes in listing sites sometimes and there are cases when links get removed unintentionally and websites do run into problems with crashes, down-time and what-not. I was just a bit shocked at the number of ads that seemed to go missing.

I am curious on a site like the one below I just noticed the strange URL, did someone trick me by showing me an extra copy of the home page they created and then deleted it? - Blogmaster I have not seen this before either but it would be a pretty good way to scam people. Hack a site create a duplicate home page and sell cheap links. It just seems like a strange URL almost like they wanted it to appear to be the home page.

SumitBahl I think I remember seeing this one listed here on DP? I thought I might have even made a post in the thread (could be a different one), was the page I am refering to 'live' when you bought the site? Please give me the sellers name to make it easier than having to go through my hundreds of Paypal history.

    thanks

    Hi Jude,

I think this is a misunderstanding Jude.. The previous owner should have contacted you about the takeover. I will contact him again to contact you for the links.

Would appreciate if you would let the previous owner resolve the situation at hand.. Thank you.

    Allan

    Thanks buddy
