selling software, any "how to" tips?

Hey whassup all..

In the first week of June I will launch my software/application, a very smart, but complete dating software (plentyoffish clone with web 2.0 interfaces).

Currently my team is busy with developing the website for clients to buy the software package. This is the only way I know I how to promote my product (except the ppc advertising in G and YPN). What more options do I have more?

Any suggestions are welcome and feedback will be given by me.

You can set up an affiliate program, JV, write reviews about your product etc

 

have a banner made and have people you know put it in there sig that works

You need to submit your software to as many as possible quality download sites.

Setting up an affiliate program will be a good idea, thats how alot of businesses get rich - by building a base of alot of webmasters who then try to build another base of webmasters and so on.
This way your product will be advertised by other people, and it works as a chain reaction.
You'll be on top of the pyramid.

Your idea is great! I was thinking on that, but how can I setup an affiliate program? I know I can setup it and think about the revenue for affiliates, but how do I promote this? Any experience with this?

 

After you set up the program, firstly put banners on your website to catch other webmaster's eye.
Also, go to big webmaster sites (try affiliatetip(.)com for example) and submit your affiliate program.
Webmasters who search for relevant and profitable programs will likely to find yours and try it out.
On top of that, you could always advertise on other relevant websites if you have a sum of money to invest.

can i ask how much you are selling the app for?

 

I will notice that in the pre-launch of the script shortly, just for DP members. Also I will make a special DP member price before the software will be released.

 

Definitely submit your software to script directories... maybe advertise on them too...

 

thank you for all the tips.. What I am going to do is the following:

- Google Adwords (just to kickstart)
- make a affiliate-promotion page with promo material etc. on the site where I will sell the software from
- submit the program at clickbank regnow.com etc.
- announce the affiliate program at webmaster/affiliate related forums
- product reviews @ blogs

Any more ideas?
