Just curious how many DPers don't have "day jobs" but make their full time income via the internet. Even more, how many have it set up so it's a relatively maintenance free income? How difficult was it for you to get there? One of these days I'll get there
I am in the process of switching over from a day job to an internet job. I make minimum wage at a dead end job- I'm only 18. I am transitioning over to copyrighting- which can get me $20 an hour easy. About three times what I make with a lot less effort. The way I see it, sitting down and working versus doing physical work is worth the exchange alone. But getting paid three times as much? Now that is a good trade-off!
It takes awhile but only months at most. Mainly because of building ranking on the search engines and sending emails out to bunches of people and narrowing it down to the email that are most likely to make a conversion. It does work and it's worth it.
Wow that is pretty good at 18, I'm not much older, 22 in a week. That'll be a nice income, I'm still looking for a niche myself, I think I'm going to start looking into e-books.
Yea, good job starting at 18. I honestly wish I would've started earlier. I am currently 21, turning 22 in November, and have JUST opened my first website. No income as of yet, just trying to promote it as much as I can. My motivation for doing this is to, hopefully, one day just live off of my websites. Once this first one is successful, I can look to open another, and so on. My current website is a forum/blog, which requires little work on my part (once marketing is taken care of).
Well, being a young low maintenance guy I would be quite content with 1.5k a month 18k a year isn't bad at all I don't think. Especially if it's more passive income that doesn't require a whole lot of work to keep going. I don't have much desire to get filthy rich or sit on my butt all day long and watch TV without having to work, but it sure would be nice to not be stuck in a 9-5 job, just to be able to go on a long backpacking trip or invest my time in something more meaningful than making other people rich in a normal job. The freedom is what really attracts me to internet based businesses. Right now it only feels like wishful thinking, but I'm confident I'll be able to make it work in time after I learn a little more.
I started online when I was 21 years old. I needed some extra cash to survive...lol In any case, I started real small also, $150 a week by writing for web guys, but soon got mentored and grew to a few thousand in a month. Eventually over three years time, turned it into a nice six figure income
I am 22 and I earns $300 per month from DP alone ! But in this vacation (1 month) I earn nearly $800 by sitting full time infront of DP and doing some SEO/IM related jobs. I am in the way to setup my SEO company ! Thankz to all members ! I want to make my income stable : So any help ?
It's not maintenance free. I make half my living on the internet, the other half doing web design and web-consultancy for others. It enables me to study almost full time - but there is work in the sense of promotional activities, finding or creating content etc. Because my site is getting near the point where it's an authority in its niche I get articles submitted. But these need to be edited, usually. It works this well because my site was already running for years - so it had good links to it already, had good rankings etc. I started out redoing the design so that it loaded quicker (more external CSS) as well as incrementally improving my on-site SEO work: titles, descriptions, internal link profile that sort of thing. Added adsense just as they came out with the feature to send money straight to dutch bank accounts. Did major testing on adsense, using channels and all that, to find out what color-schemes and ad-sizes would work. Still doing that to a lesser extent. This is one job where the investment in time and energy comes way before the gain. The cycle it's all based on is: create good content > get links > get rankings > get more visitors. But as step one takes time, step 2 takes time and step 3 takes time (and is based on step 2): it ads up. Social bookmarking and active advertisements can speed up the process: if you've got good content. But it isn't for nothing that some high profile SEO'ers say they won't take on clients with websites that are less then 2 years old... In my niche the content, per page, doesn't make enough money to hire anybody to write for me. My income is literally the adding up of enough pennies. For higher end niches it's different, probably.
No i dont make a full income... Not yet. But i am trying to make a stable income from internet so i can quit my "real" job. Good Luck to you guys.
very good story's I my self have taken my skills for computers and use them to just help me sell my services which helps out some but I couldn't stay on a computer that long but thats just me
I am 22, and I have a website that could possibly be my only source of income if thats what I wanted, but I also work full time. So this year, I will probably be making close to 6 figures. I started when I was about 16 buying and selling on ebay. Then I got into websites at age 18. From there, I put all my websites to the side and just started focusing on college and finding a good job. We'll sh!t hit the fan, and I was layed off my job. (Finished school though) I decided I wasn't going to be left with someone else supplying my income and I had to make a living for myself. Now I have a website that provides me an income, in the event I am every out of work. And I only work on the site about 1 hour week. (Wasn't like that at first ) Thats my story
Congrats for your wise decision For me, I am currently earning passively from a few of my sites and hope that the income and on par with my full time job by end of this year
