    I actually prefer the big surprise myself.
    It's a lot more fun, if you don't know if you are doing enough. You just keep working at it as if you aren't getting any love.
    However, traffic (the Big Picture) I check all the time.

    There is an element of surprise of suddenly jumping in the rankings. My question would be what are some general stats to becoming a Page Rank 5 site? I've seen PR5 sites with minimal traffic. Not sure how Google calculates this. Any clues?

    Age, and Content have to be the first 2. Good SEO, next, and solid back links from similar industry sites, I would say will round out how that happens.
    Also if the site has no competition, or what is out there is crappy.

    It would probably be very easy to rank #1 for , "South Bloomfield Aluminum Siding", but not so easy for "Aluminum Siding"
