Right, but at the lower levels, there is no reason not to hear out the candidates for nomination. The idea being that the "losers" had their opportunity to make a case. Believe me, Paul made that GOP debate much more interesting than any presidential debate I have witnessed. Just on entertainment value it was worth it to see Guiliani make an ass of himself. I'm sure the Iraqi people were pretty impressed that we empowered their butcher to save them from Iran. Saddam was acting in our interests and his own. No one gave a crap about the average Iraqi citizen who lived in fear and without civil liberties. I mean, we backed and patroned the guy who 1) invaded (not once, but twice - Iran + Kuwait) and 2) used chemical weapons on civilians. And then after we bomb Iraq for 10 years, we show up and say, "we're here to save you, why are you suicide bombing us?". I mean, seriously. Would you be cool if someone did that to America? The US was attacked for one day, for a few hours. Can we even fathom being bombed for years? We can't change 9/11. It's already happened. We can change the foreign policy the 20 years previous that may have influenced the attack. At the very least, we owe ourselves an honest look at how things have been, and are being, done. Sleeping with the enemy of our enemy hasn't worked out so good.

I speak up when I see someone make a disparaging remark about a group's race and/or sex used as a put-down. It doesn't matter if AGS is or isn't gay; your comment used a group's identity as a means of issuing a put-down. Whether the person it was directed towards is or isn't gay is irrelevent, it's the intent behind the slur that I'm taking issue with. I've asked a DP mod to look at this thread and determine if you've violated any rules that govern this forum. The mods can have the final say on the matter.
