Well here it is check out my newest site. here The bottom half is the part im concerned about it looks to plain to me. any ideas how or what i might be able to do to make it look more standing out and them link navigation on the left side in the bue and red box looks funny. but tell me what you guys think thanks.
The effects on the header look a bit outdated.. along with the bevel effect I think... nice web 2.0 glossy effects would make it more modern looking!
the bottom part is actully ok no so good but ok the top put needs new designs its just very old and pixle looking pretty good if this is ur first site
yeah that what i was thinking a more modern look can you point me to some good resources so i can achieve a more modern look?
Ive been reading tuts non stop for the past 3 days and here what Ive came up what here. I also learned the css Javascript drop down menu. others were telling me the old one didnt look web 2.0 but this new screen shot of my new design tell me what you think it looks better but still a little plain any ideas on how i can boost it up. Im using CS3 btw. Any advice on how else to slice images not using CS3 or Image Ready?
Riots, for the second version I think the logo and text should be over the gradient to make it pop a little...maybe even a 10/10 drop shadow. I'm in Madera btw
Not bad, Riots! My first comment would be to lighten the drop shadows under the Alpine and Fosgate (sp?) logos. Also under the "149.99-pair", the shadows make it a little difficult to read the information. The other thing is (and this may be more of the client's fault, if they gave you the text), watch out for typos! Nothing screams "unprofessional" more than mispelled words/bad grammar. Above the map, you have "Where located at"... should be "We're Located At:", although that's not even the best grammar. How about "Here's where you can find us!" or something similar. And, in the first headline, "In alarms we do what other cant"... not the best phrasing, but at least add the apostrophe in "can't". I know the grammar/spelling stuff isn't exactly design-oriented critiqing, but believe me when I say, people who know the difference pick up on little things like that, and it's a bad image to give off for your client. I might not have the logo quite as imposing on any pages aside from the first one. Sure, you want it noticed, but it's a little much on the other pages. Besides, that will give you more room to push the products! The last thing is, the logos in the bottom right are pretty cramped. Maybe have them lined up horizontally across the bottom, just above the links line? Ok, sorry for rambling, just tryin to help. Good luck!
Cool I completely understand what your talking about. I have moved on from that design to this new one its just a screenshot but could you give me some advice on this one. Like what i can do in the header and footer HERE
Yeah, dude, the header/footer is much better like that, IMO. Do they have an "official" logo? I'm not sold on the font usage in this version. But you're on the right track with the layout!
the only part that is official logo is the J's in brush script font and the blue snake skin and thats there hummer i threw in there.. BUt yeah i like the design better also..
Hi Riots, web design is not just about tutos, you have to navigate a lot in order to see what are the latest tendencies. I can see you asked for a resource to achieve a modern look, I guess this is a good place to start: Best Flash websites I hope this works for you, keep it up
Ok So here is my new design HERE Having a few issues though for some reason the header image is getting cut off at the bottom. And issue number 2 Im trying to add this navigation HERE its Html/CSS SO if anyone could help be greatly appreciated.
too poor web header...pay some money to graphic designer and make it more looking good...maybe blend with your website theme..
I think it looks decent, certainly better than the "mom & pop" look. My top suggestion is to find a better image of the hummer. It looks very lo-res.
