Advise from mcp a+ net+ Do not turn off your pc. Do turn off your laptops. Reboot your pc at least once every 2 days. The startup and shut down creates a strain on the pc best to leave it running as long as it dosent overheat.
alright i understand that its good for PC's to shut down the pc off at night..but then how come my pc's runs for 1 year+ with occasional rebooting?? i am not an expert on computers...just use them for my use ;-)
Mine makes a lot of noise and it save energy too to turn it off. Never mind the strain, you could by a new one on the saved energy.
, who or what is mcp a+ net+ I think the advise makes sense though, it is currently what I do so that 's good
I have heard that it is good to leave your computer on, and I wish I could do it, but it uses too much electricity, and I'm also afraid that some day the lightning will strike and destroy my computer, so I always unplug it at night.
not sure how much juice a normal pc uses...but def a good idea to shut down and unplug during a electrical storm!
I put it to sleep, using the sleep function. It saves power, and getting it out of sleep takes like 2 seconds.
I used to NEVER turn mine off. Then I got married, and my better half prefers to sleep at night without the hum of the computer (actually, two now!) - that's compromise, ho-hum!
I need white noise like I need air! to sleep that is. we'll actually go buy a cheap fan on vacation if need be!!
Absolutely. You know the planet is a very precious resource and together, if we all switch off our PCs, we can save enough energy to light up a small non-industrialised country. Also 99 % of all statistics are absolute bollocks!
Agreed with country boy and My country has some Power related issues lately so we have to help them by turning off our PCs and extra lights lol Poor government
I do the same thing. Normally I leave it running but summer is coming and it is getting hotter so I want to save energy and avoid my computer frying, so I usually put it on hibernate. If I'm going away or something for more than a day I turn it off completely.
