Zorg is upon you - the project has begun

Here is where it all begins - my new directory project

I sold off many of my other PR4 and PR5 directories as i no longer had time for them.

I have quite a bit of cash to spend on this project, so here goes.



What kind of directory

I want to be different, but no too different. A bidding directory, me thinks.

What Script

PHPLB does the job, i don't feel the need for a custom script right now.

I have done! Promoting my Zorg brand even further. I already have the domain.

So, you're being cheap with the domain like some do?

No, i got myself a com. I love them too much. Far too bigger project for a .info. zorg-links.com is the domain i chose.

Is it gonna look boring?

Nope, im going to buy a custom skin. I am picking the best of everything. I also want the best of everything, thats why everything i buy will be from the contests forum. It allows me to get several peoples attempts, and pick the best. That way i'm not limited, and get a good view on my possible design. I'm currently offering a $10 prize for whoever comes up with the ultimate category icon. Like i say, everything has to be perfect.

Thats why in the coming weeks i will be compiling an ultimate list in this forum. I'll let you know when, i plan to keep it simple without limiting peoples place of purchase, so all links are relevant.

So....how you gonna promote it?

I'm going to buy genx_wan's 800 directory submission package. Then i'm going to go banner ad hunting. Traffic is just as beneficial as PR people. I am not yet sure where i will promote it, but advertising is a must. Perhaps i may give adwords a try. But DP will be a great place to start, for finding some advertising and also doing it from here.

Anything else to note?

This is not one of those noobish ideas that end up getting sold a few weeks later when i get bored or when i spend too much and it doesn't work out. Its a committment that i am willing to take. I am not a naive kid who thinks hes gonna get rich overnight. This is serious. If you ever see me pack this in or even consider it, i hope you will all red rep me so i look like a fool here on DP. If i wasn't serious about this, i wouldn't have bothered spending a while writing this post, or even bought the domain and started spending.

i also aim to get PR3 for the next update.

As for the custom skin, too many bid directories use the standard, or some of the few free ones about. Only bigweblinks.com has seemed unique, perhaps i haven't looked far enough though.

 

I took a look. May consider a design company, but want to see what the talents of DP forums bring me

 

I'm pretty sure the talented people @ DP buy sell trade forum will do me proud, so no need for web design companies yet!

I may not even bother sharing my thoughts with you, some guy was friendly enough to give me red rep - "same old BS" he wrote. and i got another infraction for posting in wrong forum.

I'm mad about the red rep. If my directory was "the same old BS" why would i spend a long time writing up my ideas into a long post, why would i be paying good money for design and promotion. Its things like that that make me mad.
