If you are using Adwords to drive traffic to your landing page, will unique content on that site or landing page give you a better QS?

    Thanks,

    Jon

From what I've seen duplicate content is not part of the QS calculation.

i think that unique content is important for landing page QS calculation:

This makes sense due it would be very easy to just copy tons of content from another site and place it on your site to improve your QS.

Have you ever seen it have a noticeable impact (at least from what advertiseres can measure) on the QS or related metrics?

    GFC -

I haven't seen any impact whatsoever by using duplicate content. Granted, I have not done extensive testing on the duplicate content QS correlation, but here's one specific example:

I created a simple site with 7 articles, none original. 1 landing page with a 300 word intro, and at the end an affiliate link.

My keywords were solid, 1 small adgroup in a graphic design software niche, decent search volume. The wild card factor: my domain is an exact match of the main keyword...

The quality scores I achieved in Adwords as a result were mostly 'great' after 24 hours. Probably 15% were ok, 85% great. My gut instinct tells me they are looking at my very simple page/site, the content to code ratio is excellent, and well themed, and therefore giving me a good score.

Ironically, it's my client campaigns that often get 'punished' with low QS, even though they are real businesses spending thousands to hundreds of thousands annually.

So does this suggest that having your keyword in your domain has a strong impact on QS?

Never heard of any problems with having some quoted articles etc.

I personally have never tested sites with double content.

But I think that as Google state it on Quality guideline is something that you need to pay attention for.

I think that they uses a similar system regarding dupe content that they use for Organic results... it depends on how much have you copied from another site - in some cases Google bans your page from Organic result if you use duplicated content there.

I have duplicate content on one of my sites and get great results with Adwords, this is the only experience I have with it so take it with a grain of salt.

My guess would be that Google will get around to at least testing if they should penalise duplicate content, and at that time you may notice some fluctuations in traffic.
