True, not cool sharing this kind of info just like not cool showing asking someone what they get paid. Not sure how much chris makes, asking him how much he makes is a little bit disrespectful so wouldn't ask him.
I'm really not sure how much he makes and I didn't mean to share secret of other people, but everybody can guess this.
It is possible, but I wouldn't put directories at the top of list of the type of sites that can make that money monthly.
If you are willing to put in the time (2+ years to start seing good money) then it's possible. You don't need to do heavy advertising, just build a GREAT directory with good page rank on both the home page and internal pages and word will get out. You can do a lot of promotion in forums and on various sites to help get that word of mouth going. Problem I see with the directory business is that it has become over saturated and is declining in popularity so if you are just starting now it will be tough.
The problem is for getting high PR you need good money to spend for buying links, which is now harder, like DP was a PR7 but now it's PR6 with all the great natural back-links it has
Gross earnings or profit? Just one directory? $10,000 either way is still one serious directory. Niche, niche niche! Directories are an information service, there is a lot of market left just not for general directories.
