Tricky question. How can they be borned in a way like you an me? I guess we can say they were 'created'
I have just read it adam and eve had a son called seth who himself had a son, but who did he marry to have a son assuming he was the first child of the first 2 human being created by god?
He married his sister. Actually, if you read Genesis it describes how after Cain was cast out he ran across many other people in many other lands. Where did these people come from?
Cain was cast out of what? Cain was never in the garden of Eden if that is what you are referring to. Only Adam and Eve were there. Please explain yourself. Col
The story of Adam and Eve was not meant to be taken as history. It is like most everything in the book >>> a parable. People interpret it as a history lesson and get confused and reject it outright or follow it to the letter with disastrous consequences. Jesus taught in parables and the Bible is written in esoteric terms. If one wishes to get the message they have to look deeper than assuming it's a history book. The parable of Adam and Eve was intended to explain the nature of life here on earth. It tells us about ourselves and is placed in genesis because it is imortant to understand. The rest of the book is based upon this understanding. I could go deeper. Adam and Eve also represent one person (Adam=body Eve=soul) but i'll save that for another day.
Hogwash. Parables are parables and each parable in the Bible clearly identifies itself as a parable (or illustration). There is nothing in Genesis (or any other part of the Bible) to indicate the Adam and Eve scenario was a parable. Col
And there is so much proof a serpent talked to eve? She was created out of a rib? etc etc. If you believe that crap you're delusional. 90% of the problems the Church has faced throughout history is the result of reading the book as if it were a history lesson not a spiritual lesson.
Ummm....errr.....your debate (or argument) has turned somewhat. I only posted on what you said about the Adam and Eve scenario being a parable. Stick to the topic man. Col
How much closer to the topic could one get? The topic is "when were Adam and Eve born" They weren't. It's a parable. Thus believing they were is a mistake. Further it is a mistake to read the Bible as if it were a history book.
And why can you not read the bible as a history book? surely its a book from god, he must have put some stories of the past in their regarding adam and even. When you say parables are you trying to say these stories arent true? IF they were true then surely you could regard it as some piece of history. I'm not saying i don't believe in adam and eve coz i do, but ur theories don't make sense.
I'm not saying they aren't true, they are spiritual truth not necessarily historical truth. Just as Jesus taught using stories that his student could understand. If he spoke to sheppard he used flocks of sheep as subject matter. Who cares whether it was a real story anyway? The idea of the story is to teach a lesson, a spritual lesson at that. Whether a snake actually spoke to Eve (assuming Eve existed) and she ate an apple based on the snakes advice, and whether she suddenly became ashamed and then she and Adam starting wearing clothes is pointless in a historical context. It is very valid as a moral/spiritual lesson.
I thing that Adam and Eva was born with 4000-5000 years ago.If we read the bible will see this think!!!!
It makes me laugh everytime someone claims that reading the Bible creates atheists. It assumes that Christians don't actually read the Bible. That statement reveals a lot about the intellectual capacity of the person saying it. What it really says is that the person making the statement can't understand simple stories.
The problem with the point you are trying to make here is that Jesus and Moses are waaaaaaaayyyy different. Moses did not have anywhere near the intellect for parables like Jesus did. In fact, he used Aaron to do most of the talking. He even told God he was not confident in speaking to the people. What makes you think he could use parables?? Col
Anyone can use parables. This is written word not spoken anyway. And beside that the story only makes sense when read from that point of view.
That statement makes no sense or contribution to this thread. If you actually read that part of the Bible then you could comment on why Moses could have written these things as a parable. You know, cite some scriptures and reason on them. That's how this usually works in these threads. Col
