Why does Yahoo pick up my back links and not Google or MSN.

    When i check my link popularity or back links, all the links are picked up by Yahoo and google and MSN seem to register none. Why is that?

    Google and MSN probably do pick up your backlinks, but they do not always show them in the link: ponex.co.uk and linkdomain: ponex.co.uk search results. They like to keep their cards close to their chest, possibly to deter your competitors from finding your incoming links and trying to acquire them from the same places.

    Well, it's not completely true: if you go to www.widexl.com you will see that Msn also gives you the backlinks,then maybe it's not the real reason why this happens.

    I have 2 back links on google and 368 on yahoo all sounds weird to me, my site is up just over 4 months and its only in the last month that the back links have started to show on yahoo. they all take pages from each others search engines using each other ranks and compiling them into one to make sure its an American owned market which the three of them are. there is no search engines out side these that come any where close.

    Not unusual. Watch it for another few months. And you'll also see that Google will only show publicly a very small fraction of the actual links they know about on your site.

    If you want to get a true idea of how many links Google acknowledges as going to your site, open a free account at Google Webmaster tools (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/about.html) and click on the "Links" tab. For example, for my website Google sees over 3,000 links coming in, but to the public they only acknowledge less than 100 of them.

    The webmaster backlink tool still doesn't show you all links and it only gets updated every few month as well.

    If you wanna check all your links in google enter

    ::www.yourdomain.com

    That really shows all links ;-)

    because you don't use the search button.

    It's known that yahoo and msn will spider your site and your links faster then google.
    Google is a bit selective on the links they count as to being pointed to your URL.

    Your links will eventually be received by all the major search engines with web spiders, so don't worry. Maybe it's because they are not shown...

    Yahoo changes it's algorithm lately they add backlinks as factor for SERPs unlike the previous one they focus more on Onpage Optimization...

    Google and MSN don't show their backlinks 'coz they don't want to show the competitors links....
