If you make revenue, and make a profit, then yes it would be worth it. Good luck on that project, hope it goes well for you.
Wow... that's one pricey site! How much do they make monthly? I'm not familiar with the site so I'm not sure if it was a good or bad investment
Some domains can be very expensive. It just depends how much value people put on it. I can forsee an MP 3 online retialer that can developed using this domain.
$22k is quite a lot for a domain name, but I'm sure that if you develop the site well enough you'll be making a lot more.
$22,000 for that domain seems to be very high. I think the bubble is going to be bursting very, very soon lol
.... and I guess the mp3 shop keyword is popular... do you plan on competing against itunes and napster?
That domain name for 22K? Sounds a little wasteful. I personally wouldn't have given more than 5 for it.
It's only worth as much as you can earn back from it .. if you can't build a site and market it well, there's no point to your investment. Unless you can see it again for more than 22k. Was it developed when you bought it? I'd never heard of it before.
First .. nice name.. as far as price .. Here is what I came up with ESTIMATE ONLY: Private Party Buyer = $4,200.00 Retail Business Owner = $3,360.00 Wholesale To Webmaster = $2,100.00 Below Wholesale To Webmaster = $840.00 Now..... with that being said .. is does not mean that you wont make a ton. My guess is... -affiliate- stuff a lone will get your funds back and more. Again the prices above were not meant as a price in stone ...just hard to calculate the HUMAN factor .. and what a person will pay. So far that IS the biggest grey area in general with names. Tk ..
the price is too much! i did not find any reason for this huge price, actually! google cache shows the domain was part of a chinese website that has nothing to do with mp3! that site was also having popups!! it is a pr0 domain! with that price you could have bought a well working pr6+ webdirectory, that could have given you lot's of money every month! anyways, it's your money, and i hope you earn your money back from that site!
i will not be competing, but will be doing the same kind of site with a diffrence that hasnt been done before, as far as the domain, i know i paid a little over i should have but i wanted that particular domain name and the earning potential in my position is huge... i know many record label bosses and famous artists...
It's quite funny seeing people chime in the thread with absolutely no knowledge on domaining! It's great seeing your enthusiasm towards the domain. I like the domain and feel it is a good sale. It is a .com of a very good keyword and a very brandable name. I'd suggest as a backup you apply for a premium domain certification and keep it with you. Regarding the project, I'd suggest something better than Itunes (IMHO, of course), go for something like BeatPort. It's more cooler and you can rank for mp3 shop easily (something they all are targetting) Keep that enthusiasm and go for it but remember a good strategy is the key! Best if luck!
Thank you for your comments, i already make 5 figures GBP per year in physical record sales and mp3 is a natural way forward and yes... your points are valid
