Hi all, I'am fairly new to article writing for seo. I have a couple of issues that maybe you can help clarify. 1) How many sites would you submit the same article to? 2) If the article is the same (duplicate content) will the link still count towards ranking? 3) Do links in googles supplemental index count for nothing? Thanks
I've just started writing articles myself and am also curious to hear the answers to these questions.
1. Depends, I see nothing wrong with submitting to as many as possible but make sure you submit to the large directories. 2. It should as long as it not in the supplemental index. 3. Yes the link will count for nothing. Don't just submit to article directories - contact other webmasters who have relevant sites and get them to place your article on there site.
If I were to submit the exact same article to say 100 sites, surely only 1 link would not get put in googles supplemental index, the one that gets indexed first. Wouldn't every other article that gets indexed be recognised as duplicate content. So is it even worth the effort of targeting multiple sites with the same article? Or should I write 1 unique article for 1 site?
It is my way of thinking that you should submit an article to only 1 directory. In the past I used to submit to as many as I could, but lately I have been going with only 1 or 2. If I submit the same article to 2 different directories (rare) I will wait for a week or two before submitting to the second one. In the past 2 years I have only seen any significant amount of traffic from 2 article directories, ezine articles and the chronicle. For about 95% or more of the rest of the article directories I submitted to I saw very little to 0 traffic. My primary goal is traffic, not PR. But if I were doing this for PR I wouldnt think that having the same exact article in dozens or even hundreds of different sites would be of any value. Keep in mind that other webmasters will pick up your articles and republish them. So over time, even if you just go with 1 article directory, you will still be facing the issue of duplicate content. But maybe if you limit your submissions at the beginning it will give the SE's enough time to recognize the article there and 'count' it as the original and the remainders as the duplicates. Just my thoughts on the subject.
Ok, I'll try just submitting the same article to the best 5 sites I can find, such as ezines and see how it goes from there. Cheers for the advice
100 sites would be max for the same article. Google doesn't consider links if too many of the same article is submitted.
1. How many - In a recent test of a brand new clients site, we submitted the same article to 6 article directories. The site was indexed in 48 hours, received a PR2 during the last update after 1 1/2 months, and saw increased traffic and sales. I would say the quality of the article directory is as important, if not more important than the number of article directories. 2. Dup Content Workarounds- Most directories provide authors with a resource box for placing links back to the original site. Use keywords in the URL that link back to your site and change them from directory to directory. OR Place the article on your site first, allow it to be indexed there before submitting to article directories. 3. Supp index - Cant say what Google's algorithm really does but relevant links from pages with PR usually fair well. Resources: ezine, go articles, adwords-articles for adwords and SEO articles
1) How many sites would you submit the same article to? (ı submit one article to one article directory) 2) If the article is the same (duplicate content) will the link still count towards ranking? (G will filter most of the same articles so they will not help you to get better ranking) 3) Do links in googles supplemental index count for nothing?(Supp. Result are called "Google Hell" . Supp. Results will help nothink)
KC Tan, Do you submit the same article to all of those sites? Have you got a list of these sites? _________________________ Evident Directory
I've heard advice to write a different teaser article for the article submission sites, so you'll avoid dup content, and the teaser might entice more clicks. anyone have thoughts on this?
