Tattoo sites earn squat?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by carl_in_florida, May 25, 2007.

I just completed a niche tattoo site. After a few days I am getting about 1,000 pv. the problem is I am getting LESS than $0.01 per click!

Is this because I am new? Do tattoo sites make any money?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

Not too surprised. However, I think $0.01 is far too low even for this niche.

I'm finding out that revenue sources like Google or Kontera are NOT the way to go. You need a different revenue model if you want to make money in this niche.

    Do tattoo sites make money?

They can do, I make plenty from my lot of tatt sites, there are different ways to monetise depending on whether your site has any quality or services to offer on site or you can look at affiliate sales, CPM.

If you can build up to a couple of thousand visitors per day I could get you onto Ask related search which has been better performing than Adsense for me.

It is a very hard niche to monetise but it can be done successfully with a lot of hard work.

Thanks for the feedback scott. The earnings estimate you put in the original post seems waaaaay out of reach at the moment, though that may be because of my current traffic source.

Do have to be referred to ask? I have a site that gets a lot of traffic.

I know this isn't an adsense related suggestion but I could imagine that a tattoo site could be used to sell t-shirts and mugs if you get enough visitors. 1000 PV/day is a pretty solid start I would say.

I'd try a different ad campaign for your site. I doubt you're satisfied getting $0.01 per click. Try CPM/CPA ads.

You can apply here for any larger site and we can pass your details on.

You could also try something like AuctionAds and use keywords to match the type of things that your visitors would be interested in - basically drawing-in ads for whatever product you want.

When I was getting a few visitors a day the average click was $0.04. Now I am also getting $0.01 / click or even less with more traffic!!! :(

    Hello
I was reading this post and thought I should put this out there
    I control Inked.com
It gets a ton of organic type in traffic
If you have some good ideas for a Tattoo / Inked website I'm all ears
I do have a lot on my plate and I would be open to some sort of creative management of the site.
    Please PM me

    Thanks
    Keith

    Hello Carl,

Do you mind sharing how you increased traffic to your website so quickly? Are you paying for traffic?

I just put a text link on another site I have. It seems easy to get page views with a tattoo site. I am averaging 12 pages per visitor. They just make any money for me yet.

I saw that. I may give it a whirl.

This isn't the first time I have heard about a tat site having a hard time monotizing - personally I would choose a different niche.

Agree with aletheides, just doesn't seem so marketable as other products. Maybe in America?
