There are a lot of alternatives out there, all you gotta do is have the time for research and try out which works best for your business. I won't drop names though!
Discrimination in action. I was in two minds to use Paypal or to avoid it - for exclusively obvious reasons, I'll chose the second alternative. It is still weird to me - how come they have so terrible customer service in such very competitive market
I had a good experience though about a dispute.. though initially the long emails was a bit frustrating.. wait for the other person to reply to your email. But finally they decided in my favor and I got my 166$ back. It was for an ebay purchase.
I do believe it depends a lot on what type of business practice you follow. I'd set more restrictive filters when choosing who to deal with, and who to accept funds from. Stay away from unverified PP users, now that's a rule if you don't want unnecessary trouble. Then, try Google Checkout if you're in the US or UK. I have my account set up just did not yet start using it but things look quite promising. And there are no fees to pay till the end of this year.
Hmm check out http://paypalsucks.com for all the dirt on PayPal. We have had numerous issues with them, including the theft of $910.00 of our money!
In my opinion, websites like paypalsucks.com and 1and1sucks.info are places where you can let your bad experience off your brains. But that cannot be taken as a rule I think. There is no company without angry customers, simply because you can't please everyone and then things get out of control with the unhappy part. I've been through bad 1and1 experience myself, too. Haven't had a single bad experience with Paypal, touch wood. But, if not Paypal then who? Anyone out there perfect? Luckily we have Google Checkout to investigate, and I would not guarantee it's the best option either. Time will show. When it's about money, be twise as accurate in your transactions.
3 months ago I sold some stuff to this a guy, to which he paid me via paypal Yesterday, PayPal email me that the person had started a chargeback though his credit card company. I replied PayPal with the proof of conversation we had with the guy but sadly today, PayPal have deducted $30 from my account 25. May 2007 Chargeback Settlement Completed ... -$20,00 USD -$10,00 USD -$30,00 USD Code (markup): this really sucks, now i am $30 short I am going close my PayPal account now. I have had enough...
For those selling services I suggest you use some type of verification (phone etc..) because there is a lot of phishing sites, and a lot of accounts being stolen which are then used to purchase your services.
Not sure everyone can afford a 10$ verification call for a $50 deal. I should say it's upto Paypal to protect us against fraudulent transactions. If they can't then we give up on using PP services, no other choice, is it. However, I hate to repeat myself, it all depends on what kind of business you do. If you sell cheap stuff to the public then be prepared to be scammed by thouse who do not pay to get things on the web. You can't fight them, you just can't. But you can avoid them by directing your business towards the proper market.
lost $1000.00 to them recently. Even though their policy should have protected me. I contacted a supervisor and he is looking in to it. Probably won't matter though Paypal sucks
Paypal customer support is good. Please ring their number instead of email them. The operators are very supportive. 1-402-935-2050 4:00 AM PDT to 10:00 PM PDT Monday through Friday 6:00 AM PDT to 8:00 PM PDT on Saturday and Sunday Please have this information available when you call: 1)The telephone number listed on your account 2)The last 4 digits of your credit card or bank account registered with PayPal I have a bad experience in domain selling. The purchaser charge back and i am nearly dead. I send several docs to domain name provider and i won the case. I should use escrow instead of paypal for domain selling.
its funny someone gave me negative reputation for this thread - this is ridiculous I can't even express my opinion and people jump out "its your fault" - what is my fault? what about scammers? maybe you do the same? scammers!
Don't take it as a fault, sandrodz. Rather use scams as lessons and remember to change business tactics as soon as you get to learn about chances to be scammed by someone. Good luck!
kehnee , E-Gold as an alternative is safer and the only scam is the loss of funds, everything ewlse works fine.I have no problems with paypal , many people using for honest transactions. It is true , PayPal have some hidden surprises in their rules but we all read the rules and make arrangements flexible for trades to cater for what we buy and sell, like if you want to accept paypal for e-currency or e-recharge voucher numbers, vmi then you have to be prepared as buyer to wait a few months for clearing because the buyer can chargeback and you lose your money. Paypal has this in the risks section of their ToS
The problem is that most of the online trading people accept paypal. So everyone is helpless ! Hope pp will be down soon !
