Possibly, if I ever decide to charge for link placement, but for now all link placement are free and permanent.

Not quite sure if I would call that a scam. His directory is free and it provides direct traffic. Isn't that what directories should be all about?

Scam are you serious. Its a free directory my friend and I showed stats of my site traffic, over 160,000 page views per month and growing, I would say that is quite a deal.

And just so you know, the nofollow attribute is mostly ignored in my experience, but it builds a trust relationship with the search engines, because it tells them that those links are not those of the site, which they are not, but the links are still crawled and followed, maybe the PR is not passed as greatly, but if your mission is to submit to my directory for the pure benefit of the search engines then maybe my directory is not for you! I practice heavy SEO and focus on traffic with the influence of search engines.

Scam.....I have heard it all! You really need to check yourself.

let's then all put nofollow on our directories...because it builds a trust relationship with the search engines

yes , your directory is not for me then...

sorry if I overreacted, is your directory and you can do what you please
even put nofollow on your links...of course a directory like that is not a directory, but is your call

Is this what you meant? Btw. are you sure that no follow links don't still help you get ranked?

See that's the problem, everyone is always up in arms about building a healthy relationship with the search engines and not wanting to do what the search engines (webmaster guidelines) suggest! Instead they think the search engines are trying to punish them or hurt their rankings, when in all honesty if you just do what they suggest you will have a better relationship with the search engines, which means better ranking. It is really that simple, but instead people like you want to go against the grain or look for ways to beat the system.

Well, I tell you, when I hear suggested advice from the big search engines or their representatives then I heed that advice as long as it doesn't interfere with my web users (visitors) experience. Optimization is about having a good relationship with the search engines and adhering to the webmaster guidelines so you can benefit from influenced ranking in the search engines. Optimization is not about beating the system, that's the wrong way to go!

The problem here is also that far too many don't understand the importance of branding and credibility with the search engines as well as the visitors. I for once knew the site was going to be good, you've been a member here for quite some time and the site carries your name, so it's not like with most members here who register 50 .info's and take the chance to get banned any second. It's sad to see this, mainly because I get inspired by creative people and not machines following one program to "get PR" without even understand how powerful you can be once Google kicks you down the right traffic (traffic matching the content of your site).

Like you suggest, I doubt rmsiu understands the no follow attribute.

You can see that I still have backlinks in Yahoo! from "no follow attribute". I can almost guarantee that Google crawls and index no follow links as well, but as we all know Google doesn't share all of its backlink data. The only thing I think the "nofollow attribute" does is tell search engines that "hey these links were not posted by this site, so don't devalue my site if the link is broken or spam...and make sure you finish crawling my site before leaving my site to crawl these outbound links" and Google possibly does not pass all of its PR value.

My website main objective is to provide SEO Services, not to manage a web directory, that's just a bonus for visitors. If the site main purpose was to be a directory site, then I would probably share my site value with all outbound links (free or paid), but in this case I want the bots attention on my website not the links in the directory. A directory website is a completly different story, you want the bots to focus on the links in the directory.

Oh! and did you know that just about every blog comment has the "nofollow attribute"...its written into Wordpress Blog by default, also WikiPeida uses "nofollow attribute" on its external links, but we all know how valuable it is to have a link in a popular Wikipedia topic....so rmisu your arguments are invalid. I just love freshman SEO's.

Anyway, thank you to all those who are continuing to post links. I am sure the traffic to the site will bring you good results. If you check your site logs and see referrers from antonaf.com then please share this news with us! thx.

Exactly, if they cannot find what they're looking for on your site, might as well send them to someone who will then in return send you some business. (Potentially).

Why are all your categories nofollow? I can understand the links listed by others within the categories being nofollow, but every link on the front page of your directory section is nofollow.

    Just curious :)
