The move causes Google to lose a lot of AdSense publishers. That's good for me, because I'm a publisher and this moves the supply and demand in my favor.

On the other hand, arbitragers are also AdWords advertisers. Advertisers benefit me, so their loss moves the supply and demand curve in a way that hurts me.

I really hate MFA sites -- especially because a lot of them are cloning my web sites and then cloaking themselves so as not to be caught by Google.

I don't know if this change will effect me personally in a good way or a bad way, but I am still happy to see it finally come.

    P.S. Nice avatar movingbz!

Few days ago Google used to respect 'arbitrage' as business model and now there is no respect for them ;)

    What does arbitrage mean exactly?

Say I have a site that uses adsense, but also has affiliate stuff and a newsletter sign up, would the fact I have adsense on there make it arbitrage? Would I have to change from adsense to something else, because I want to keep the adwords traffic for my affiliate links and newsletter?

    I still don't get it,
how can they buy cheap keyword with adwords?
if their contents are targeted to high paying adsense keywords,
with the QS system in adwords, the keywords will be expensive too!
    am I wrong?

if their adwords account are still live,
they can keep buying cheap traffic,
so we will still receiving $0.01 per click, right?

I just read an article on it. Apparently one guy was using the keyword "digital watches" and then sending people to a page targeting Rolex, and making a neat profit off of it.

I figured people might want to see the exact text of the email they send out and I hadn't seen this anywhere before. Here is the email that they send out to people about this:

    Hello,

Our specialists regularly review partners participating in the AdSense
network. After a thorough review of your account, our specialists found
that your business model is not a good fit for the AdSense program.

As we're no longer able to partner with you, your AdSense account and
any related AdSense accounts will be disabled on June 1st, and
ad-serving will cease at that time.

Please rest assured that you will receive payment for all outstanding
earnings in accordance with the standard AdSense payment schedule.
However, you are not eligible for further participation in the AdSense
    program.

    Thank you for your understanding.
    Sincerely,

    The Google AdSense Team

Isn't it hilarious though that Google still wants these people as AdWords advertisers?

Adwords folks BUY...not earn :) Which, unfortunately, means that nothing may change. They'll just be buying penny ads that show up on our pages, directing visitors to a site that has...wait for it...Yahoo Ads. Don't empty that filter quite yet.

yahoo has been shutting down quite a few ypn accounts for poor performance... plus, the ypn targeting is a disaster, so it's not clear that the scammers will be able to make arbitrage work with ypn like it did with adsense.

if the adwords traffic was too crappy for adsense arbitrage, it'll be too crappy for ypn arbitrage.

The funny thing is that the letter is not talking about arbritrage.

Maybe the problem is the site's content?

    Or lack thereof. :D

That's a very interesting point. Normally, I would say "Oh, OK, the arbitragers can just get back into the business by adding content to their landing pages."

Except... Google cancelled their AdSense accounts. That makes it a wee bit more difficult for them to just add some content.

    Thanks for the interesting information!

It seems that Google engineers just have written a service tracking most active PPC'ers having good-performing sites with Adsense on them :D. Google have all data for that, also they have algorithms to measure quality of the sites and so on.. So I think it is a semi-automatic system, notifying their staff to check certain sites..

Let me just start by saying that this is the best thing Google could have done with adsense. Hopefully this is the beginning of them removing all the parasites and scammers that have taken advantage of adsense and practically run it to the ground.

To all the arbritagers, all I can say is: bad luck! If you do the wrong thing you will eventually get caught.

Finally the legitimate publishers can get the kind of revenues they deserve.

    • I didn't see anything wrong with arbitrage
    • arbritragers can still buy cheap ad from adwords, because their adwords account still alive
    • publisher's site will still get $0.01 per click, because arbritragers still buy cheap ad from adwords
    • there will still many mfa ad in adsense networks, not made for adsense, but made for arbitrage
