what would you do different now. Which were the biggest misconceptions you've had and the biggest mistakes you have made?

(Personally, I would have come up with the Bidding Web Directory concept a long time ago and added my forum right away)

Actually I have started a few directories before, but they were more or less stolen from me. I think I should have started even earlier though, like in 1993 when directory.com was still available. ;)

If I were to start again --I would not have donated so much money on sites having PR5/6/7 donation page links:( Google has completely devalued them and my donations have gone useless:mad:

well the thing is that there will be a lot more cool stuff coming out that no one is thinking of right now. What should we start RIGHT NOW that is not being done yet? ;):)

An attempt to trying to know what Google is doing itself is rather difficult. It's even harder on finding out what they would do in the future.

I actually started to learn SEO shortly after I launched my directory, so I didn't waste too much time in promotion. I was pretty lucky in that.

I just wish I was was more brave enough to go after even more popular terms for a higher rankings in G SERP. Well, it's not too late I guess, but I wish I started it a year ago ;)

The best places to buy listings is where not all the other DP member buy them. Those are often meant to go downhill quickly. Looking at the submissions I have received from some of my free offers, I can see why. There is a lot more quality out there than here. This is an internet marketing forum and if you follow the crowd, you better be careful where you spend your dough. ;)

Well, DP certainly is a big place for directory owners. I can't hoestly find as quality as DP elsewhere. I always thought DP is the best place to buy links, mike ;) Or at least, its one of the best places.

I'm actually ok with what DP members offer in many cases. What I should focus on more is the markets where the webmasters don't know SEO much yet. There are places where PR0 home page can be sold on a monthly basis, it's so scary :D
