Without any knowledge of SEO I am top of page 3 of the google search using my top keyword. Because of this position Google has become my highest referring page. Obviously if I could get on page 2 or (better still) page 1 my traffic would increase even more. I was looking through this site and found this "key word selecro tool" http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/. Put in your top key word and it generates key words that, when used, will bump a site up the page ranking. How do I use the key words supplied via this tool? Do I simply add them in the SEO keywords? Or, do I do this and work the words into the content text of then site?
My self. I use tools like that to help me select anchor text for IBL's and use them (if they fit) within the site content.
I use press release to get in the top 10 for pretty much any keyword phrase I want. The issue is you have to spend a few bucks, but being in the top 10 makes a HUGE increase in traffic.
put the very gemeral word into the tools and see the search no. of the words. it will show you the related or relavant keywords with same main keywords in this case you will know what keywords people are searching for in SEs. the choose one of those that related to your site and content as the niche keywords. the more search number of the words, more competition it will be. so start with fair amount of no. first and change to be higher no. later.
If you don't want to spend any money then the easy answer is getting more 1 way backlinks. The hard part is getting them. And remember quality over quantity.
