Why does no one ever complain?

I run a free SMS script on one of my web sites. That page has been viewed over 5,000 times so far this month.

This script has been broken -- since mid February. No one mentioned anything. Tens of thousands of visitors have been annoyed and not a single one complained.

I was notified that this script was broken yesterday by a DP member who is writing content for the web site.

Not a single one of the tens of thousands of people I've annoyed has written to webmaster@ to complain.

That just feels weird to me. What do you think?

Possibly because people don't expect a timely response from webmasters. They might figure that their time is better spent looking for the same service elsewhere.

It's true. If I ever experience an issue, I just look for an alternative site that offers similar functionality. It's just easier than contacting someone

Maybe now that the script is working again I will rise in the SERPS for "free sms". :D

Interestingly, the script being broken only lowered the earnings of that page by 20%.

    Wow thats crazy. . .
But you must have had literally NO return visitors on that, or not?
Wouldn't that also bring down your income on it?

people have tested those sms scripts, and most of those scripts are broken, so your visitors try your script, thinking it won't work and when it actually dosen't work, it dose not matter to them,

kinda visitors are really not bothered, if they dont get something in one site they just search elsewhere. they really don't wana spend time contacting the site.

it is wierd but that is a fact.

I think people automatically assume that webmasters are aware of everything on their site.

    Will,

As you have mentioned its free script and thats why they do not expect much. Usually we are always there to take such complaints positively BUT people do not think that way and thats why they do not show much concern.

Glad that it has been fixed though!

The most likely reason will be there are so many others out there, so if yours is not working, they move on to others. Unless yours is unique and different from others that they really want to use, then you will definitely receive emails of complaint.

    I noticed it, I reported it! :p

The others may have clicked on the ads because yours wasn't working and the ads were displaying "unbroken" free sms scripts. Hehe! :D
