How to visit your website and not affect Adsense stats

I've finally started to use Adsense on my blog. I seem to remember reading that once you have applied the code to your domain, you shouldn't surf your site as this affects the Adsense stats.

Like a lot of people, I do surf my own site as it is a method for me to ensure that everything looks the way I like.

Is there a way to designate through a cookie or something not to count page views from the workstations that I use?

    Thank you

    Carmen

It is not a problem as long as you don't surf it several times a day. You need to work on your site and to do that you need to view it. I think the problem comes in is when you have an image ad and you refresh your site hundreds of times or visit it several times a day. Just do not click any ads and only view the site when you need to and I do not think you will have any problems. I view mine a few times a week to make sure everything is ok and I never had a problem.

    Hello Carmen,

Sure, you could use a php conditional statement to only display the ads if the visitor wasn't you (You could use IP or cooky to determine if it was you.)

it's not a problem for the adsense . you must visit your site. adsense team know this too. but if you want to visit your site without ads, you can use firefox with adblock extension

How do you know what kind of ads they are showing etc.

Don't you need to monitor the ads.

My understanding is if you don't click on the ads you are OK.

    You can visit your site.

Can some one correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks

I use an adblocker plug-in for firefox. If I want to see how the ads look, I just turn it off temporarily, or use IE.

I set my websites as my "homepage" a lot of times and never any difference in Adsense, but if you are worried you can always use a proxy.

I know the adsense team is pretty good at responding to email questions. Perhaps I'll contact them and post the response in this thread.

As long as you don't click on your ad your okay. Your the webmaster and you need to be certain everything works on your site. Check it and update as needed.

You can install www.adlogger.org and block your own IP, then ads will not be shown to you.

I never click on my ads, but I DO visit my site at least once a day. I often make changes, and I like to see how the site looks.

My husband was looking at my page once and went to click the ads and just about gave me a heart attack. lol :D

LOL, that is funny. Good thing google tends to ignore clicks from your IP.

I just recently had my account disabled for invalid clicks/impressions. I believe it was due to an abnormal number of impressions from my IP, as I was testing a new site the day before and refreshed countless times. I'm waiting to hear from google on my appeal of the disabling.

No it was because of invalid clicks not impressions.

I don't think they punish you for visiting your own site? I think your just not supposed to click on the ads.

They won't punish you for visiting your site, but your visits will still change your stats, which may make your stats less accurate.

Still waiting to hear back from Google on this, it's been a few days now. I'm interested to see if they could possibly shed more light on this for me.
