I opened a video site 2 day ago.. I just check cpanel and I have already used 3gb of bandwidth! This is crazy.. Anyone else own a video site so they can tell me how much I can expect this to eat? Thanks ~Joecool6101
lol.. wait till you open a proxy some hit 10GB a day! YouTube had $80k bandwidth per day at one point... (back when it was not so popular!)
I own 4-6 proxies (i cant remember) and they only eat around 30-40gb per month.. But those are on a host were i have 3,000gb of bandwidth.. My video site host only gives me like 100gb bandwidth.
perhaps an un-metered host is a better option then! yes i know, the video's takes a lot of bandwidth, and the more popular it becomes, the more it eats! host those videos in youtube, that's a better option
The reason i made this is so i dont have to use youtube.. and can upload anything i want without worrying about youtube mods deleting it..
My reason is stated above why i dont get from youtube.. and it doesnt bother me that much that bandwidth is being taken.. i am just very surprised considering the age of the site
what did you expect? if someone uploads a video from 100 mb, your site converts it to a 50 mb video but if it gets played 20 times, you already use 1 gb bandwith for that one video video site don't come cheap... sites like youtube/dailymotion/veoh(has high quality streams for full shows!, they spend thousands of gigs of bandwith every minut!)/
Apparently I am going to need to move to an unmetered account on a different host later one. Unless i start getting clicks from adsense i dont have much money to really spend I only have like 59 videos ATM.
