yes i agree with you caz a lot of people make typing mistakes and when they make this mistake they will be redirected to that instead of google home page...
2 years .cm registration costs $799 , only few can afford it, since recovering $799 from the domain may not be possible.
Its obviously possible otherwise that $300m guy wouldnt be all over them. But true not many could afford them plus the fact you cant register them unless you have an identity in that country.
big article on .cm domains in business 2.0 -- some guy buying up tons of them because it is a .com typo -- they go for like $800 a pop -- but some great names are available still
I also read that the same guy is trying or already bought a ton of .om names (country of Oman) Someone find out how much those are going for - from what i've read, you have to live there to get a .om name.
But do you really get any sales from these errors? If I was trying to go to google.com and I ended up a jewelry site, I would close it immediately...
Thanks for the article - it is a good read. However I suspect the whole domain game will shift given ICANN's decision to allow the creation of new domains such as .car or .shop. April 2009 is when the doors open, and it's going to be chaotic!
I used to own CNNN.com back in 99. too bad I let go of it the year after, could've been another millionaire in the making
I accidentally type in gmail.cm all the time. It's annoying as hell when I do, but I wish I was the guy getting that traffic.
It's pretty difficult to register a .cm. They require a lot of documents that would prove you are the owner of the brand and the price is quite unclear. It's easier for a ".com.cm", ".net.cm" etc. All unregistered domains are parked so all the .cm typos make money for the Cameroon government!
