    Hello everyone!

I just want to know what's the maximum number of submissions to be made on the following so you will avoid getting banned:

    1. how many articles for article sites?
    2. how many links or blogs for social bookmarking sites like netscape, feedmarker, stumble, etc?
    3. how many links for directories?

    Thank you.

There is no maximum number, but I use a good rule of thumb...build as many links humanly possible. This means, if you build your links MANUALLY (yourself - just you) then you have nothing to worry about, because the number of links you'll be able to produce will not trip any alarms.

You need to build links at a natural speed though. Adding too many links at one time can cause a penalty especially to a new site.

this is not true. I had a new site on the front page of digg last year and it picked up thousands of links within a few hours and it was never banned....in fact it moved to number 3 for its number one keyword within a month

You cannot get banned for to many links to your site. Imagine making headlines with a new website and everyone start linking to it, there will be thousands of links within a few days time. No one can build that many links by hand in that short amount of time.

But I just got banned from a social site because I'm submitting 15 links per day.

SEO-wise I thought it's OK to submit a maximum of 20 links to directories. More than that is already bad.

To seo-ranter: How did you get that link at the first page of digg?

There is no maimum number and minimum number but one thing we should keep in mind is that article and directories should not be spamming and link farms and thats are not banned by search engines.

If you do work manually you can take a lot of links and you can submit it to a lot of websites but just should not be repeated ......

Depends on the directory. Sometimes, there will be directory rules/guidelines posted somewhere in the site.

link building is a slow and steady process. get a few backlinks every day, and your ranks will keep increasing,
social bookmarking sites like delicious and stumble usually don't ban, but then sites like digg can easily ban you! it deponds on the sites actually,

you got banned from the social site not from the search engines....that is called spamming and I would ban you too......

I didn't do anything special to get on the front page of digg......someone submitted it and people liked it.

trying to get on the front page of digg is probably going to be seen as spamming

The thing is not getting lots of link but the effective links either one way link or link exchanging and all these is not in very quickly, do it in daily routine way. Always search for new links for better traffic on site.

Yes hmansfield, SAME LINK. Is that one reason when you get banned?

To Noli: Based on experience, most directories will allow you to choose one and only one category for your submission.

So what's the best advice that you can give guys? For instance you have a page that contains an article with anchor texts directed to your site which you want to get indexed. How often and at what speed should you submit it to social bookmarking sites and to directories?
