For me, it was sometime around 1999-2000 range. It used the old Linker directory script (I may have started doing it all in html first). I think it was very innovative at the time. I don't know why they stopped developing it, but it was was led me to start phpLD around 2001 (or what would become phpLD). When did you start your first directory?
Like about ... dunno maybe .. let me see ... wait i cannot remember... maybe when i joined DP ?? Or was it after like 4 - 6 months after i joined dp ? Ohh its such a tough question. Do u have any easier question like do you have a directory ?
I started my first directory (all dot net.com) in Jun 2004, I used biz directory script. Later I sold this directory in 2005.. and the new owner converted it into phpld
I started my first directory in May 2006. When I write it down like this it seems like it wasnt long ago at all, but thinking about it seems like a long time back.
Back in 2000 still going strong makes a ton of money but we never market on DP because not relative to webmasters and directory owners etc, its all worldwide accommodation But we have 2 Directories running on phpLD since 2005 & 2006
my first was a free directory for mp3 related websites back in about 2002-2003 it had a pr5 and good daily traffic but i let the domain expire....
First directory not so long time ago. About 1.5 year ago. But in 1990 I started with coding Assembler on good old 8-bit Commodore64.
You should know David, it's when I bought 3.x phpld I think it was about 18 months ago, and I'm on my 4th..lol
Yep I used Basic too. Then found 8-bit Assembler not so complicated. All it was games . Then moved to Amiga + Amos and some more serious projects.
About six months ago...I realized that directories weren't my thing soon after and sold it off. I may try again in the near future though
I started my first directory around 18 months ago and here is how it first looked Really I guess it has not changed much, I just had it upgraded to v3.2 and was considering putting up a template but I sort of felt because it was my first directory I would leave it as-is for posterity.
