    If you had an emergency..

rent has to be paid, or you're on the street...

or the overdue electric bill is hanging over you with the threat of being shut off..

or need a tooth pulled w/no dental coverage..

    or all of the above!

You have only a week to make, say, $2000 (US dollars). Limited skills, practically no resources (except the ability to whip out some content-rich sites -

    what would you do??

Liquidate sites earning revenue. If you don't have any of those, I suppose you could whip out some 10 page (original) niche content sites for probably $100 - $150 each.

I'd go to a library and take some books out then chuck together as many websites with about 12 articles on each, they seem to sell for about $80 each. Depending on your speed you may scrape $2000 in the week.

the niche website idea is probably the only working idea...you'd have to work about 12+ hard hours a day to pull it off though

I would run out to all the shops in my surroundings and sell a web site that I make to them for $250.

I'd probably put together a bunch of websites and sell them on ebay. Write a good sales page containing the benefits of the site, screen shots of unique features, mention possible sales from affiliate programs.

The problem with requiring the money within a week, it is hard to actually build the sites, advertise, sell, close the deal, get paid and transfer the money to your bank account all within the 7 days but at least you would know the money is coming.

    Good suggestions..

Rosea - I checked out eBay, but it seems that from the completed sales, very few got sold, and the ones that did, sold for a small amt. of money.

mdvaldosta, maney, & guy123 - niche websites sound like a solution (don't have any sites to liquidate).

login - doing some simple websites for local businesses might be also be an idea. Hmm...

On one hand, I REALLY wish this was actually a hypethetical situation :(

However, *if* (I should say *when*) I pull this off... it will make a terrific real testimony!!

If you never came close to making this online yet Then the realistic answer is to go and get a loan.

Without the skills it's the only solution.

You could also visit local stores and offer to make really impressive sites for them, you can charge a lovely fee and get really good freelancers to do the work. When I looked into something similar I found that the "market leader" in the niche was charging about £2000 ($4000) for a complete website. If you look in the right places you could get an amazing design made for less than 1/4 of that. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why I didn't do that :D

Is a good idea, but with all that debt, he probably won't get one.

Maney has a good idea also, which in personal experience does work.

I think if your really going to work for it, writing those articles, placing them in well optamized adsense sites and selling for quick $100-200 is good.

Make sure it's about 10-20 pages per site, nice SEO design, adsense in the right places, and a simple admin interface (add article, edit article, delete article).

    He's a she, but that's OK. :)

Actually, having debt doesn't stop one from getting loans - (loan co. love to get us in more & more debt). Lousy credit & a lack of work history (was an at-home mom for more years than I want to admit) does, tho.

However, I'm very creative with survival techniques .. I surprise myself sometimes! I also learn fast, if I have to. I taught myself iDVD, iMovie & did some film editing - all w/in a span of two weeks. Had a deadline, had to make it & that was that (class assignment - misunderstood the deadline!)

But it was oh, so much fun. I love a challenge.

The idea about the articles is good (working at that now, actually) AND I really like the idea about getting someone else to do a really cool website, & getting contract work for it. My own outsourcing company...

    Cool idea..

I think I have enough confidence (or at least I can BS my way through it) to contact some local businesses, too.

Thanks so much - this forum is terrific. You've all given me lots of ideas.

Funny thing is... it's amazing just how successful you can be.. when there is NO choice - and you HAVE to be!!

    Lynne ;)
