Google doesn't "ban" sites or pages for having duplicate content, it simply doesn't rank the duplicate pages that have little/no authority. News sites normally have other content on news pages, like paragraphs from other news items etc giving the pages enough uniqueness to be not considered duplicate. Also alot have authority status, meaning their pages don't suffer.
It is more advisable to use another article, for them to see different content. Submission of article is beneficial to your site
Well, actually they will. What do you call it when the website gets dropped from the index? Google's duplicate filters are much stronger than they used to be. If I take your website and copy every bit of it. Google COULD choose not to index it. Or throw most of my website in the supplemental index, which isn't going to rank high either. I know for a fact from articles that I posted, that at one time showed up over 2,000 entries in google. And now only one of them is out of the supplementary index, and only about 20-30 of them are in the supplementary index. The rest completely fell off the index. I know, because that was my article and I was tracking it. Google treats news sites differently, however the same filter applies. Try to find a news article that was 2 months old, and see how many iterations of it still exist. It might have shown up on 100's of sites when it was fresh news, and two months later only a handful show up. It's the same with an article you spread throughout the web. You could have 2,000 backlinks to your website..... FOR A MONTH. But, eventually google will kick most of those out. M

Marc, what do you do for your optimization? What are your techniques.. I see that you are very aware of articles dropping.. so, have you reconsider on other techniques? can you share them here? Thanks Dan
I USED to do Article marketing among other things. I still do to a certain extent. But, I do things which are an anethema to most SEO experts I pick up the phone to get links. I find relevant websites, pick up the phone, call them, and discuss giving them some of my content in exchange for a link back to my website. It's time consuming, but it pays off in the long run. And then the same old stuff everyone talks about. On-page optimization. Bulking up websites with relevant content. Link Exchanges. Press Releases. Forum marketing on relevant forums. Link Baiting. Videos on Youtube. Buying links, etc. Sadly most of these are harder and more time consuming than article distribution. But, that party has ended so time to move on. M
Yes, I guess so, this will look like the future.. wouldn't be more helpful to implement a system where these webmasters looking for content come to ask for your and then their unique article.. in exchange for a link from it? One per month, one per week.. they get their unique page and we get our unique one-way link right?? Will copyscape be the arbiter of this?
From my personally point of view.. all the articles directories are dead in the eyes of Google... so all the one-way links from them are useless.. As I told in an another thread, I got all my sites de-indexed when Google made that change in its algs, and the only optimization made was with article submissions. Doing very well on rankings.. but then Bam! everything de-indexed. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=333251 So, I was thinking.. to have the same quality of the articles links, but from somewhere else then from article directories. That's why, when exchanging pages full with original content, for just one or 2 one-way links back.. I found it very useful.. both for me and for the new owner of that content. But the price of the links will be increased.. so let's say.. at about $5-10 per link.. exactly the price of an article. I guess this will be the future,
Have anyone heard about this rewriting software?? http://secretarticleconverter.com/index/ they says it will pass copyscape test...
