They probably mean a down payment. But if you wanted to buy a foreclosure (probably needing work) there are areas in the US where that can be done. I attended an auction last summer where the final price was $8,000 think. lower middle class neighborhood, needed roofing.

I would probably invest in real estate too or maybe a solid Internet venture.

you can invest in high return and low risk fund management company. OR invest in website business with slow funding according your marketing need.

Put a down payment on a house near groceries and bus lines. You'll make it back in no time and gain equity every month. That's what smart money does. :D

When you buy a home the 10K is a downpayment. You still have to make payments.

Good to hear that you have managed to save $10k, no doubts thats a big amount and i wud suggest you to do a long term investment and sensible investments. Well for your query regarding buying some real estate, In india its on boom and funds get doubled every 2-3 years and at times in 1 year. Moreover I and few of my friends have a managed forex account from an expert trader from Uk with 6+ yrs experience and never gave less than 10% monthly reurn from past 4+ years. If you want to try , I can get your try their services with just $500, if you like the idea, you can invest 25%-50% of your funds.

Please PM me for details,if interested.

Many people did mention buying a home. Unfortunately for some -- but great for a buyer -- is that great list of homes under 'Foreclosure'. $10K can go a long way -- with careful research before the auction to get a great return on this investment. Not necessarily the 'safest' way -- but many millionaires have been made from the Foreclosure Market. Just a thought.

    Soaring Higher,

Hehe I know I know but that was me being all sensible and all. Could come in handy for a rainy day. :p

Making money and risking it isn’t my thing really, saving what I do earn I find more sensible. But hey thats me.

    10k is a serious budget.
You can buy a couple of nice established sites with some revenue and try to increase it.

Give it too me? Invest it in advertising for www.GuysPlace.org and divide the revenue?
