How do i compress videos?

I have some large videos <120mb> that i need to shrink down to 80mb.. how can i do this.. windows movie maker does not work for the file.

 

There is a lot of options for you, the best compression that i know is "rmvb" you will get some amazing results (quality) with a very little size.

thats depend on which format are the videos, just google it, for example if your videos are "avi" then search for "avi to rmvb" in google and you should find some good programs that offer a trial.

can most media players play it?

better compression than mpeg2 or divx?

Well my main problem is, is that i dont have codecs for my videos.. so no matter the program i use it always says i dont have the required codecs.

.avi

they play fine in VLC but thats not what i care about.. i need to shrink them down to under 100mb so i can upload them to my video site. And every compressor i have seen uses windows movie maker type stuff to shrink it.

 

rmvb is RealVideo Variable Bit Rate File , you need a special codec to play it and yes its a lot better than divx. amazing quality and very little sizes .
and i just told the guy what to type in the search field of google

 

Why dont you download a big codec pack ? then try an rmvb compression program .?

Avi is standard for microsoft windows media

Are you sure you can't import file

when you put mouse over in the pop up what does it say file is?

Not by going right click and properties

maybe somebody already played with that file and has codec already

don't you hate that crap...I had the same problem with video taken off my Fuji digital camera...why video editing SW doesn't include that stuff is beyond me.

been a long time since I ironed that all out though....in my case I think it was a motion jpeg codec or some such thing...Pegasus was the company that finally had what I needed if I am not mistaken.

Use a 20ton AC compressor. They are believed to compress well. Dont forget to check for their EER else you will land up in high electricity bills.
