This new version of vBulletin prevents spam, deletes stupid posts, and bans annoying forum members -- automatically. :D

Why not setup a system were only registered members can contact you in the forums and this could be limited to like 1 email per day or something this may cut down you forum emails at the best.

Also min user posts before email form is available to cut out the rif raf and you can setup a community support were new members can discuss members who have opted in for some help.

Just a thought but good luck with the restructuring.

Good point, Egs. That would cut down the number of useless threads that are created solely for the rev share.
The best special effects are those that you don't even notice. :)

Do you really believe people create threads just for revenue sharing? I've been pretty active here for well over 3 years now. I've seen $18.22 in all that time in total DP rev share... Not bad IMO, but certainly not something worth intentionaly achieving.

I think the moderators do a pretty good job of whacking the useless post count go getters.. The more obvious ones are easy to find.

I love DP how it is now, but there is always room for improvement.

The thing that chaps my ass the most is all the threads that get posted by newly registered members (usually less than 5 or 10 posts) that always go something like:
    • "what kind of business should i do to make money"
    • "i want to make money online, where should i start"
    • "i have XXX idea, will it make me money?"
    • "i signed up for XXX affilate, what should i target?"
    • "what keywords would you recommend?"
    • "i have $100, how can i make money?"

Now there are tons of perfectly legit and perfectly useful questions that get asked everyday. However, when I see questions similar to above it tells me that he/she is too damn lazy to use the search feature or do his own research. If you come to DP to make a quick buck with are willing to put in zero effort, ffs leave. DP has been an incredibly valuable resource for me over the years I have been around, but don't expect people around here to just hand you over the money tree.

    cheers

I do believe that Mia, but only a very small minority of people. They maybe don't realise that you'd have to create really useful threads that people will come back to time and again to make any decent cash.

I think the changes will be an auctioned of banner space to pay for a team of professional spam filterers (a word???) and phone call screeners. ;)

It takes time. And time is what Shawn is lacking right now I assume. It's really funny to read all those posts making suggestions on how to increase income even after Shawn made it clear it wasn't about the money and mentioned what the reasons for changes were.

Things going hard to control when you only got 2 hands to use and 24 hours to share between life and work. Now many started judging from their own perspective, which is amusing - "make that section paid... charge to post in there... install monthly subscriptions and so on..."

    Huh.
