A very good point. The forum is a very small part of the empire which is DigitalPoint. :)

Ya, within days of shawn's post I saw a member's recent blog something about digitalpoint being sold!

I guess maybe that user is used to living in the highschool rumor mill where you make up stupid stuff to get attention.

Well it's 2007 and I can say that everything turned out great. It was fun reading this thread and seeing everybody's predictions. Thank goodness all the bad ones did not come true.

Someone else was smoking a bong. For god's sake the thread isn't even that old. May 14th 2007, 1:26 pm to May 17th 2007, 8:33 pm.

Damn hippies, someone get me my old faithful eight gauge shotgun with solid slugs...

It's just a spammer trying to get his post count up.

He even spammed the Infractions thread.

Woah, was it really that funny? XD

Anyway, I hope this forum only gets minor changes. I love the way it is right now.

am a bit late to join this thread, but then it looks to me that shawn is going to make some spam barriers! perhaps a captcha while posting a thread, or may be 50+ posts or one month time to start threads in the important sections.

pay to call or pm or email the support staffs! i don't know how this will be setup but then not a bad idea after all,

am too badly hit by spam myself, 200+ pm spams on my site, 20+ spam posts in my small incative forum! hundreads of spam regestration in the stupid phpbb forum, spam comments in blogs, spam emails about a few hundread everyday, but then i only have small sites, pretty much inactive, so for dp i can understand what spam could actually mean:eek:

make the support paid, that's the only way to stop the spams comming, paid to recive pms, emails and fax:)

Well I think we should introduce post limits for use features of this forums. Like PMs and BST access.

50k spam mails a day is huge, i wonder how you filter those and find right emails. or either all are dumped to thrash

Going paid would only fail DP, in my honest opinion. DP gained so much success because it stayed free even though the popular ones, such as DN Forum and SitePoint went paid (thus why those two forum's activity went from almost as wild to DP to as dead as a new forum).

In all honesty, I think the paid feature of DP is a bad idea, but how about instead deleting the revenue sharing hack and making it 100% DP? There's surely more ways to make money with a forum, rather than charge its users.. :)
