I've been looking into possible Newspaper Advertising and have been pretty shocked at the price. For a 3cm x 3cm Ad hitting 7 papers (pretty large area) for one week they're quoting AUD $306 (approx US $250). Does this sound expensive? Is this advertising worth the money do you think?? TIA Rach - typingmums.com
Yeah, it is really expensive to posts ads. Your best shot is to make it to the paper for your webpage being interesting, and someone writing about it in the paper.
Media advertising outside the internet is very expensive and unless the publication targets your demograpic well, I would consider a web campaign that you can track easier, there is no print cost involved and you may also gain some link/PR benefits. If you want to get into magazines and newspapers, spend your money on a good PR newswire article (prnewswire.com), you may get into publications for free with a good article. Priceless!
Although I've not done this myself; I have heard of others doing newspaper advertising. Apparently the best way forward is to use an agency who specialise in this area; which may be a bit more money again but you should stand to get a better ROI if you've got someone on board who knows what they're doing. I've used it a lot in the past and I had some great results when I managed to match the offer with the location and demographics. Unfortunately, for your business I don't think it would work. Think of it this way. For 3cmx3cm response rate is less than 0.03%. Which means that from circulation of 100,000 you'll get lucky to get 30 visitors to your web site (even less for phone calls). If your conversion rate is over 3% you will statistically get 1 person out of 100,000 to sign up on your website. Now you can multiply that by your newspaper circulation and see if the potential signups will bring you more money than you would spend on the ad.
Agree, unless your customer profile is likely to be looking in newspapers for your product or service, I would avoid newspaper advertisements like the plague. Too darn expensive!
Have you tried advertising on craigslist.com? I ran a few and found them very effective....and of course you can't beat free!
I wouldn't recommend it for a content site. if you are selling a service and there might be a market there, then its OK.
try to get in the paper for free by having them do a review or article about you site. press helps when its free!
Good day, I have used Classified ads and found them to work. I would call the paper up and ask if there are any specials. They normally don't advertise this to the general public. With Classified ads you have to remember your mostly getting leads trying to sell through a classified ad is a skill that depends on many factors. Make sure the papers demographics fits your product/service and you place it under the appropriate heading.
worthless actually, try find out if you have any pay for lead program there, its better to spend in one big ads then put 10 small. though u can try out jus to see the responce.
Newspaper advertising is a very effective method of advertising. However, it is important that you advertise within newspapers using full-color print inserts, not black and whites or classifieds. Think about the ads and flyers that you receive in the Sunday paper - that's what you want.
Newspaper advertising is on the decline. Plus the cost is very expensive, there is no way to track it, and you most likely will not receive the expected ROI.
what about if you get newspaper advertising free. yes i saw some site those have newspaper directories offer. try search on yahoo "Advertising classified newspaper" you will find some good sites on page 1 or 2 those offering free newspaper advertising systems. hope it help.
Free is never bad. Just remember your pushing your message out hoping one of your buyers is in the cycle and hears your message. Hope your not just spinning your wheels.
You are completely 100% wrong. "Global newspaper circulation rose nearly 2 percent in 2006 and the number of newspaper titles also increased significantly, according to provisional data revealed today by the World Association of Newspapers. Paid-for newspaper circulation went up 1.9 percent year-on-year to more than 510 million paid-for copies in 2006 and the number of new paid-for titles grew to more than 11,000 for the first time in history, WAN announced during presentations in London to investors, analysts and media correspondents. " ..and no way to track? Are you kidding me? Put a coupon on your newspaper insert and see how easy it is to track. Ever heard of a pizza restaurant? Think about things before you post please.
Here is some more info on the power of print advertising...which is way more effective than online ads (but usually more expensive) - Paid-for circulations grew 1.9 percent over 12 months and 8.7 percent over five years. When free newspapers are added, global circulation grew 4.3 percent year-on-year. - Free daily newspaper circulation more than doubled over five years, to 40.8 million copies a day. - More than 1.4 billion people now read a newspaper daily. - Paid-for daily titles surpassed 11,000 for the first time in history. - Print is the biggest advertising medium in the world, with a 42 percent share. Newspapers alone are the second largest, with 29.4 percent of global advertising spend. "Hidden in those figures is the fact that newspapers -- as the second largest advertising medium to TV -- actually represent more than the combined advertising value of radio, cinema, magazines and the internet," Mr O'Reilly said. - Advertising revenues rose 4 percent in 12 months and 15.6 percent over the past five years. - More than 6 billion US dollars have been invested in newspaper printing and production equipment in the last 18 months.
