Handbags, ipods, computer games -- all default items I think. Can I ask where sites are hosted / and viewed from that are displaying these default items -- my ads are on a .com hosted in Germany and when I view from the UK I get those ad's probably 70-80% of the time -- I'm sure it's something to do with regionalisation. Sometimes they are relevant, but most of the time not. My problem is relevant ads look great, but non-relevant ads like these default ones just make the site look tacky
Just so everyone knows the way im doing it to me is worth $100 and that is because a person would make that back ten fold easily. But because are thinking that I should be doing something wrong to get earnings like that its not the case. So Im going to give you the hows of what Im doing in order to quell the rumors. I target people looking for high end items another words you look on ebay houses or real estate sell for big money so what i do is join forums and create a text link in my signature, people get curious and click the links. I start topics about real estate such as i found this awesome house in los angles or I answer peoples ads on craigslist where people are looking for these high priced items. Coins, airplanes, tractors, real estate , hot rods, cars, antiques. I have joined over 200 forums and spend alot of time on them thats how im targeting the high priced items. And I do alot of searching and answering emails, I do this all day long and night for the most part and thats why my clicks are where there at and my impressions are lower, i dont own a website but i can still tell people how to find the items they are looking for or hold conversations about items that they intrested in. I just thought that if I looked at a website that was having problems getting clicks that someone would pay me money to figure out a way to turn all those impressions into clicks for them within the terms of service as i dont know much about spamming or green hat or whatever else people keep pming me asking about and I dont want to know either as im doing just fine by chatting with people 12-15 hrs a day to take care of my family, i do this because im a single mom and need the money to pay my bills.
Gloria - thanks for sharing your tips - I think they'll work great for anyone who'll put in the time and effort to implement those steps.
It's normally to do with the cache. Unless you have a new visitor every 10 minutes (I think it is), it reverts to ebay's 'hot selling items'. Do they stay if you refresh the page? Because they shouldn't. My issue is different though, I believe. I went 6 weeks using "wolfmother" as my keyword and the ads were always relevant because I get enough visitors. But all of a suden a few days ago the relevancy dissapeared, even if I refresh. It's just odd because on www.lostsites.net (another site I own) the ads are still relevant.
Spot on ... It's a low traffic site I'm trying it out on ... the ads are relevant on refresh - thanks.
So Gloria, you are using the AuctionAds URL converter to get a link to a high priced item and then placing a text link in your signature? Clever. But then once that particular auction is complete the link takes them to an ended auction. Of course, the cookie still gets set on their computer (I assume) so if they continue to browse for similar items you could still get a sale. It would be cool if there was a text ad format among the AuctionAd format choices.
That does not sound like a great endorsement... With a statement like this, one just has to wonder; why use it?
Because it MIGHT do well on your site.. If it doesn't, then don't use it. If it DOES, you just found a way to increase your earnings. There is only one way to know for sure how well it will do..
Just to be clear, this is not a rip... Just a serious question... The iffy nature described in some statements, as I said, is not a very good endorsement of program... I'm not to keen on the idea that it might work, or it might not... In my experience with AA, it has been more one of being patient, rather than messing with keywords and different sites. When it pays off, it pays off big. Suggesting that it "MIGHT", is not going to sell too many people on the concept, IMO. Given my stats/pay off are much better now, and I have NOT touched it since setting it up, I am more inclined to think that "time" is what is needed in many cases, with regard performing with AA.
Mia, surely you are describing any CPA program? If you stick CPC on your site, and get clicks, you know you are going to earn money - how much depends on the amount per click. With CPA it's more difficult to know what 'conversion' rate you will have. Think of it from the clicker's point of view. Why are they clicking? Are they potentially thinking about buying a product from ebay, or are they curious. If it's curiosity, CPC is going to perform better. One thing is for sure, using such a CPA program as AA requires you to invest some time before concluding whether it works or not. With a 30 day cookie, and auctions that people are bidding on lasting up to 10 days, you can't try it for a couple of days and then quit. I reckon a month is the minimum time to invest, IF you think that it MIGHT work on your site. If you don't, CJ.com has a lot of more instant alternatives that could work, or use CPC.
Certainly.. However, one of the things I eluded to in my last post was that I think that some of the bugs have been worked out as well... I'm fairly certain that has had a positive impact on income as well. CPC pays off whether someone buys or does not buy.. CPC, IMO is great for the publisher, but horrible for the advertiser. I never do CPC on the ad front period... It almost NEVER pays off, at least for what I sell.. Too much curiosity and fraud. CPA is great for the advertiser, and bad for the publisher, unless the publisher really works hard at creating an environment where people are truly seeking something, and not just clicking for curiosities sake. The thing is, done right CPA can, in my estimation, pay off equal too, or better than CPC, if both niche markets are targeted, and a captive repeat audience is returning. To me, this is where the patience comes in. Patience waiting for that audience to adapt themselves to what is now been introduced, and patience waiting for them to actually buy something. I would gather, assuming this 30 day cookie thing works properly, eventually someone that may have found their way to eBay via CPA, may purchase down the road. I would not say that CPC pays off more than CPA, I would say it offers faster, and more consistent results. The two together seems to offer a nice supplemental boost... Of course one always wonders if that CPA might be stealing from the CPC.. Exactly... Like I said, patience....
Paypal won't really be taking that much money out of $10.00 either way. I've lost around 50 cents when ever being paid ten bucks, so it's not really the end of the world.
Yes thats what i do and there is a tool or website that i use to search all the wanted lists on craigslist for items people are looking for I then contact the people and let them know that someone is selling similar items on ebay and point them in the right direction, mostly gathering friends along the way and building a great list of buyers and friends. So im thinking in a few weeks to start a newsletter about other items that are or not on ebay but that I can make money from as an affilate for these other programs as well. Change your signatures every 10 days depending on the forums, real estate forums every 30 days. Some forums to visit are real estate investor forums they are always looking to buy property.
Yeah, I noticed earlier this afternoon that the issue was resolved. Now I have no idea whether AA support fixed something, or what the bug was ... but it's been serving correctly for a few hours now - so hopefully it's fixed.
Update: May 24th, 2007 (6 days after signing up for AA) Impressions: 7711 Clicks: 164 CTR: 2.13 Earnings: $1.43 468 x 60 AA displays on every post on four of my camera blogs, just under the post's heading and before the content. Adsense would've earned me about $20 from 164 clicks (although I don't get anywhere near 164 clicks in 6 days for those sites). All I want is for one of those visitors to buy a Ferrari or two.
Heh, that is the key really - sometimes down to chance, sometimes to targetting. My stats are good overall, but there are many $0 days. Luckily scattered inbetween are days of $9-14. It only takes one decent size purchase to generate decent revenue.
i'm comming up on 30 days of A.A. (do i get a 30-day chip?) and I think a mini-snowball effect is starting.. seems daily earnings are now going up each day. the amounts are small, but it's up to a few $$ each day and growing..
