That is actually a good thing ... it means people are getting over the fear of bid directories ... even if it is hesitant.

I expect things to pick up the closer we get to the next PR update (most likely July 21-22).

Another one is born, actually it's been idle for about a month, just needing to get some of my old projects taking care of. Spent sometime on this today.

It's going to take another PR update before some confidence in a bid directory, then again the minimum bid will increase too.

Here is my newest bid for position directory.
It is for directories and directory resources.
    Directory Link Auctions

Bids start at $1.00, on the directory permanently.
And the minimum bid will NEVER increase, even though the site is now a page rank 3 bid directory.

Why should the minimum bid change?

Why should there even be a minimum bid? That is regressive ... page 5 is NOT worth the same as page 2!

Let the market decide what a link is worth ... have some faith in the concept, and yourself ... the bids will follow! :)

Exactly. But the market is very much influenced by what people here prioritize over.

    True.
Some webmasters will pay just about anything for a link on a high page rank site.
Just as some webmasters will up their prices when their site gets a higher page rank.

Have already seen that in some bid directories.

You can raise your prices all you want, if it is not worth it then no one bids!

To me you guys are thinking backwards ...

If you make a site more valuable, then higher bidders come in. The lowest bids are pushed down anyway.

Quit worrying about the $5 bids and figure out how to get the $1000 bids! :p

That is not the DP way to do it. The way to do it is to shoot for high PR and then higher the price. Quality is secondary. ;)

I've bought a few hundred links now on various bid directories, and I'll just as likely get a link on a site with no PR as one with PR if it looks like the site owner is active - e.g. customizations to the site, promoted on other bid directories, etc. The biggest turn-off for me is a default phplb install with no links. At least create a few links to fill the front page! :)

    THAT IS THE TRUTH!!!

Face it, bids come in at $1.00 or whatever minimum you set, they slide down as the higher bids come in.
Just market your site and those higher bids will come to you.

That IMHO is the best way to do it. I have seen too many high PR sites drop and get discarded by the owner. If someone shows effort, and I mean true effort, I am more likely to believe that my listing on his sites will benefit me long term.

Come on guys ... are we still worried about wasting $1.00?

I will buy a link from just about any bid directory ... I keep telling everyone I would be happy to be their FIRST bidder.
All they have to do is ask!

To me any page that is indexed ... with or without promotion is worth the minimum bid.
That is still more value than I can get from many paid directories.
