Read an interesting story Why U.S. doesn't stop tainted food from China which sadly shows how world economics the way it is, is basically resulting in many american's being exposed to tainted food.

This may spread to other nations though probably not at the same exposure level as the US.

Factory farms here in the U.S. are forcing animals into canablism. They grind up the rendered cow parts and feed them to the pigs. Then they grind up rendered pigs parts and feed it back to the cows. Then the cow takes a dump in a field and we wonder why our spinach has e coli bacteria.:(

That article doesn't seem 100% accurate, for example it says,

"Trading with the largely unregulated Chinese marketplace has its risks, of course, as evidenced by the many lawsuits that U.S. pet food companies now face from angry consumers who say their pets were poisoned by tainted Chinese ingredients. Until recently, however, many companies and even the federal government reckoned that, on average, those risks were worth taking.

But after the pet food scandal, some are recalculating"

They try to make it seem like only Americans are getting crap from China. Actually, with the pet food scandal...American pet food companies bought there tainted ingredients from menu foods in Canada. Menu foods in Canada was the one that actually bought the tainted ingredients and turned around and sold to US.

I think in general though I agree that you really need to be aware of what you are eating. There is more cancer now than there ever was in the history of the world, and I just don't believe food is as healthy as it used to be. I don't think big business and government is always looking out for your best interest, better to be an educated consumer and try to live longer.

Organics Organics you cannot beat Organics. No pesticides ho herbicides no cides no clides and no clap in the hides. Ground beef from cattle that were grazed and not pumped with antibiotics and other cows instead, untreated chicken which make for finger lickens, and keeps you from sickens, and of course, finally, milk that doesn't make you sick.

QFT. Agribusiness is like any other business--profits first. You have to look out for yourself. It is creepy that unregulated food comes from China. This is the problem with a lot of outsourcing and so-called "free trade," its essentailly a way for the corporation to sidestep regulations.

    From the article:

So they will kill people to maintain profits.

Exactly! People accuse me of being a hippie just because I love organic food. OK maybe I am a hippie. But whatever, healthy food is so...ummm...healthy.

Organic food tastes better. Plus the store is the only one here where you can find almost any kind of meat. They have Bison. I love Bison. And Cows. And Chickens. And People... wait, no, too many chemicals... that's right... put the cleaver down... and I also like fish.

They also have a huge assortment of cheese, vegetables, fruits, etc... and best of all they have a bakery that seems to be dedicated to chocolate.

I don't eat meat or fish, because I feel sorry for the animals. If you go to a supermarket that specializes in healthier food, you can see alot of subtle differences. For example, I buy milk now where the cream actually rises to the top and is so fresh you can really tell the difference. The vegetables taste better. Like for example if I buy an organic tomato from whole foods, I could just bite into it and eat it plain. But from Fry's it just doesn't taste very good. The bread I buy at whole foods actually has flavor. It may spoil faster because it is "real" food and not full of chemicals. Yesterday I bought about 3 lbs of cherries, so I will be munching on those for a week:).

"Organics" use just as much chemicals as non-organic farmers.

For example tabacco, dead-bug, soap or other extract spraying is a well known methods to control pests on vegetables.

Just because it says organic, it doesn't mean it was grown/raised without any help...

You want something truly organic? Go hunt & fish. And even then you might find a tag or two...

Or grown your own vegetables and fruits. That's probably the only way to be absolutely sure.

    I would not.

Recall the spinach problems we had a couple of months ago?

Yes. That would be called organic fertilizer for some plants...
