Hey guys i guessing one of the dp members out there will know how to password protect a normal folder on the desk top of a Windows Xp computer i need this please give details so family cant mess with my thing.
I don't know what you "thing" is :-P but on XP pro, right click, properties, encrypt (I think) or a better solution, get a mac (or linux) :-P
i just zip them and give zip pass like that i save space and secure my data.Ther are few free softwares that encrype data for XP just use they or else
For some reason it says that but it is like shaded out so now what is there soem kind of free program ( free for life) that i can use to password it?
Zip file passwords are insanely insecure. If it's important data, check out TrueCrypt, but it's a bit over-featured for what you want to do. Check out http://www.nonags.com/nonags/security.html for some freeware ideas.
yeah truecrypt is good. i use it. you can set a 2 passwords in 1 folder. the other password is a decoy which you can put a false data on the folder.
