I think 'nofollow' is a specific command for Google.

No it is not just a special comment on google algo, its a new standard that should get picked up by most search engines. Google is currently using it.

Google definitely follows these links whether or not it has the nofollow attribute. Whether it passes pagerank is another story.

They do not count as far as an increase in your PR or technorati rank is concerned.

I have a hypothesis, that even nofollowed links still DO count even in Google. No SE can rely on webmaster-added metadata.

No follow links do not count in Google. They do show up in yahoo link command but there are not counted.

Agree. And still, even 'nofollow' links will help you to get direct traffic to your website.

Google will follow the links, but there is no pr benifit from it from what I can tell. I believe this is main reason why google put this tag into play, to stop people from gaining pr from they should not be getting it. Just a theroy of course.

I agree, they will follow but no pr value for your site. It's a good idea, and it makes sense, kind of sucks, but it makes sense.
