I don't have a problem with annual regular submissions, but am selective where I place them. The directories I've seen which use this payment method tend to be the ones which can be trusted to stay in business and invest in continually strengthening their sites.

some times annual listings are pretty much important.
directories get over populated with time, so perhaps it is not all that a bad idea, but then while payment, i will always prefer a permanant featured or regular link over the yearly ones!:)

Good point John but this is not greedy it is just a business model.
As far as I am concerned, I don't submit to phpld/esyndicat/indexu or any other cheap script based directories that charge more than $15/20 lifetime listings. This is just my opinion on how to promote my sites. Everybody here says that some phpld based directories are authority directories, I don't think so. If the owners stop paying all those recurring payments, their directories will go PR2 in the next update. So that's why they switched to annual payments. I don't have anything against this model, I only give my opinion on the value of such link.
The only exception ($30) is probably romow because the guy is doing a very smart promotion to his directory. I pay for yahoo/msn/botw annually because of their authority.
Again it all depends on how you think a link is worth.

PS1: I use esyndicat for both enQuira and rakCha so what I said is valid for my directories as well.
PS2: I am waiting all the red reps from the QBC guys that think that everybody else belong to the QBC.

The QBC's will green if anything, because they care nothing about what comes down the road in the future.
They care only for what they can get out of it in the 'here and now'.

John's speaking from a submitter point of view... means he wont give preference to annual paid directories while submitting his sites!
And i would support him there :D

    as you stated yourself:
what is the complex for? Why do you feel it is a direct hit towards you? It's free expression on my views. To only be taken to heart, by those who choose to do so.

well, I think the issue is not about greed. If the price is reasonable, I am sure submitters don't mind wheter its one time or annual at all.

But it's good if submitters know that annual fee includes "annual re-review" of the link. In a year, website may be changed a lot, so a fresh review may be needed for a more appropriate description of the site, for example. At least, that's what's in my mind ;)

Check the fucking ego at the door you back dooring QBC fuk.

You see it's relatively simplistic in design in the way forum posting goes.
    And the feeble minded QBC's seem unable to comprehend this, and here is why;

    1. Two people posting at the same same
    2. both expressing their views
    3. one post goes out, and then the other, without seeing responses.
    4. QBC get's hit with secondary post and takes it to heart

See how it works? Simplistic in design.
The sad part is, the pot is calling the kettle black, as you had posting that 'you see no harm in posting one's view, and freely', but then, you cry foul.

Well I call hypocrisy, and a Spade is a Spade.

Want to settle this, then lets take it to a bidding website of a trusted promoter.

    p0w!

    Nah Jude.
It's one-time fee, if you ain't talking about featured listings.

Possibly you mean in the checkout page?
It doesn't matter at all, that's for those who choose "featured" option.
