Need some help choosing a Hosting Company

Hello there. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... if it isn't, my appologies.

Anyway, I'm currently hosted with HostingBug (a Portuguese hosting), but I'm not too happy with their service.
Last month, their CronJobs stoped working for two days (and I had to tell them they weren't working, because they didn't even notice).
There's also some downtime issues... ocasionally, I can't access my website (nor can other people, that already told me about it), but they say it's a problem with the connections between my computer and the server, and it isn't a server problem.
Are these situations normal? I've been using their services for more than half an year, and although I can't really make a comparison (since they're the only hosting company I've had), I'm not very happy with them.

I've been looking for these alternatives:
http://www.lunarpages.com/ - seems kind of expensive (expecially because of the setup fees), since I'd be interested in just 1 or 2 months hosting to begin with (for testing purposes).

http://www.hostgator.com/ - again, seems kind of expensive. Especially because one can only pay yearly.

http://www.godaddy.com/ - seems like a cheaper alternative to the first two (and reliable).

http://12dollarhost.com/ - this one doesn't look very official, but it's really cheap.

What I would like to host there would be a WordPress blog (with it's own domain) to test out my themes and a toplist website (with a different domain).
The most important features would have to be: being able to have 2 domains in 1 account, good uptime (I'd really appreciate if someone could give me some actual feedback on true experiences).

Could someone help me out? Give me some suggestions? Alternatives? Or even tell me if the problems I run into with HostingBug are normal in hosting companies (because the package I have is quite good).

    Thank you in advance.

I would really think about HostGator, I have been with them for ages, before I went with them I was changing hosts more than my pants (everyday usualy) lol

They offer alot for your money, most other little hosts have too many restrictions.

My sig calls them the worlds best and if you use my sig to sign up with them then I get commision but that is not why am telling you to go with them, I really do believe they are great.

Feel free to ask me more if you want, like I said, I have been with them for a long time and have more than one package with them.

I'm afraid www.site5.com isn't what I'm looking for. But thanks, sawz.

gobbly2100, it seems that HostGator only offers Yearly payments for the cheapest plan. And even the cheapest is somewhat expensive for me right now. :p

rajatoo9, I checked out http://www.vexxhost.com and I really liked them. When I went there, they even had their support online and answered all my questions.
If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to talk to you more about them. Know for how long you're hosted with them, what you think of your site's refresh rates, etc.
    Could I PM you? :)

Once more: thanks for all the help guys. It's been really useful. :D

    go with godaddy.com
very good if u need a reliable cheap hosting, 100% up.
if u need some specaial things within the hosting like Cpanel then they do not support it.

Yes, I believe they do not offer CronJobs.
I could live without them... but I would prefer a hosting company that supported them. :(

Do they really have such a good uptime, wounded1987? That would really be great for me...
Another thing: are you hosted with them? Or have you been? If you'd rather not say, that's ok. :)

I am using dreamhost with their 97$ off coupon. They oversell but the fact that i am paying only 22$ for a ton of stuff, its worth it. Dont use dreamhost without the 97$ off code.

I've forgotten the exact coupon code name, google it, you'll find it easily.

The good thing about GoDaddy is that so many people seem to use it. So it seems more trustworthy.

Vexxhost.com seems really cool, but I only heard about them for the first time today.
Is there anyone else who uses them? Or knows someone who does?

I guess my choice is going to be between one of those two.

RovingCalypso, just saw your post now.
That $97 off coupon means that you're paying $22 each year for as long as you have your account there? Or as soon as the coupon is no longer valid, you'll start paying the normal price in the following years?

    Their plans do seem good.

I was looking for feedback of actual users of the hosts. :)
The Web Hosting section seems to have many hosts being advertised by their own companies (which usually means they're trying to sell their products, instead of giving their honest opinion). :p

Anyway, thanks to everyone who gave their input. It really helped me to narrow down my choices. :D

Those aren't affiliate links I gave... :) I actually use both hosts and I think they're both reliable, but I prefer JaguarPC.

    I know. ;)
But the JaguarPC plan is kind of expensive for me right now. :(

Anyway, I've been asking a few questions to GoDaddy support and it seems I wouldn't get what I need with them.
I think I'm going with Vexxhost. They have everything I need, plus they have online support (and since I caught them online, they answered all my questions).

Thanks for the help, everyone! DP really is a nice and helpful community. :D
