Good said but I support both type of listings.. Usually a PR4 site/blog charges around $10-$15/month for a homepage/sitewide link.. So from a directory point of view, if your link is placed on a PR4 page for $30/year - Its still considered too low.. How long a permanent can go ? I know its upto life of a directory.. But what if somehow you have to close/stop your directory? How much time will you give to a last listing on your directory ? -- Just want some opinions on this.
I'm no BIG Time Promoter but I find myself here. http://www.ewebpages.org/detail/link-3184.html http://www.directorydump.com/dirsensei-link-521.html And some others. No BIGGIE.
I am pretty sure that everyone is aware that permanent means your links will stay on the site permanently, and that nobody can guarantee you that directory will be around permanently. And in the same time, who guarantees you that directory that charges per year will stay up for a year? Maybe it will close down after several months
I think everybody.. If you are having plan to close it down, you can close submissions (keep directory live) and shut it down after 1 year of last listing.
There could be many different reasons for a directory going under. Not necessarily because owner wanted to close it down.
In http://www.livelydirectory.com/ & http://www.alikedirectory.com/ ,I'm sure that your link's will be there for 8 years,at least.
I never buy annual listings, except for Y! and business.com. To me, it's a scam. They are just not worth it. Plus, who wants to deal with hundreds of subscriptions? Not me. I also will not play in the bid for placement game. Again, it's just not worth the time and money. Oh and another thing that gets me is the number of directory pages they are not cached. I can not believe how many directories suffer from this problem. They want $40 for a listing on a page that isn't even cached. Don't get me wrong, if I buy a directory listing, it is primarily for traffic. But, some link value sweetens the deal because very few directories really send me much traffic. /*tom*/
I understand perfectly..... the free directories are your best bet and also blog links from free comments posted may be helpful also.. tagging for free might be a great help also .. thx malcolm
Agreed John Permanent listings is the best way to go! No annual listings.. As u said, it forms a type of greediness...
I was about to submit to Lively Directory and found out that it offers Annual Payments too. Well I guess your ONE OF US then and NOT OF ONE OF THEM. LMAO !!!!
Tisk Tisk .... Seems we have a few Leg Humpers.... Yes ive been checking whos who and been nauty and nice... and i suggest some stop humping the leg and riding the Dxxx for they or their family members also do the unthinkable... If you "talk the talk" Then by all means... "walk the walk" thx malcolm
Out of fairness I give featured listings a permanent regular listing when there term expires. Why should they have nothing after paying for a featured? If they renew they maintain their feature status; if they don't they are downgraded to regular for life (Unless chose to renew again). That way you don't exhaust the limited sponsor spots on popular pages and the buyer still gets an lifetime link only they had more exposure for the term of their feature.
I might as well throw in my 2 cents as well since everyonme else did. I currently charge 6.99 for perm link "reviews" in bottom cats. I charge 9.95 per year for featured and if its not renewed it gets moved to a lower cat when it expires. I dont care what other directories do as I am not a follower. I dont care who likes my policies and I do not bash other people for theirs. To each their own... I have enough of my own problems in life to worry about what other people are doing or not doing. I'm done ranting now
