My cousin has Vista. I find that User Account Control is annoying but at least you can turn it off. It looks nice but I don't feel that I need to update yet. Maybe when there are programs that work better on Vista then I'll upgrade.
I don't necessarily need to upgrade to Vista right now because every programme I need is on XP. Like most other people have said, I will upgrade when a: it doesnt hog too much RAM, etc and b: it has more features XP hasn't got. Vista seems like very good software but it requires lots of RAM which is costly for computers & laptops plus the security holes, etc.
i thought it is due to dis that mostly users like the xp and they dont want any thing new and better in fact they r jealous from vista.
I just got a new laptop with Vista HP on it. I was going to reformat it and install XP, but I decided to hold off for now. Since I don't need the laptop for anything important, I'm playing around with Vista so I can become more familiar with it. So far, it's running like a champ.
I will not upgrade to vista until they have at least released SP1 for it. Microsoft is filling users full of s**t telling them that vista is completely secure thats a load of bs cause for one windows defenders performance scores at keeping a system safe are pathetic and alot of unknowing users will rely soley on that because they do not know any better. For me I am a tweaker so an operating system like vista is actually a downgrade for me
You guys don't realize the software is created for the hardware to catch up. Once the hardware DOES catch up, Vista will be great, that's why a lot of people have said you should wait as new processors with great capabilities are coming out and memory, flash HDD's graphics cards becoming cheaper. Every operating system of Windows has been treated this way, 2000, XP, etc. People criticize it at the time, but later they end up using it to it's fullest once the hardware has caught up. So just keep that in mind in future.
I hate Windows Vista because it continues to copy other operating systems (Mac OSX). It doesn't bring anything really great to the table. The User Account Control is annoying; the computer should be smart enough to handle permissions on its own. (I know, it can be turned off.) Personally, I don't like the flashy interface. I'd rather stick with the minimalistic XP bar or the Mac OSX dock then Vista's clunky side bar. With that said, I'm sticking with XP till I feel the need to upgrade to a newer computer, a Mac.
You can disable the Vista sidebar easily. The taskbar with Vista and everything else is about the same size as XP -- except black.
Vista has been working out quite well for me. I might care about minor annoyances if I had payed for it (got it from PowerTogether promo). Having upgraded from Windows ME to XP and from Mac 9 to X, I would have to say that this has been my easiest upgrade yet. Because my computer isn't some super "elite" machine, I have to shut down Sidebar while playing games. Why do people hate? Because MSoft is just one of those love-to-hate-it companies. Mac copies almost everything from Linux... And when I shut down my Mac I have to type a password. When I update the Mac, I have to type a password. The same thing in Linux. Every operating system has UAC of some sort.
I have vista on the brand new computer i just got from dell today. so far it doesnt seem bad at all. i like the functionality and looks. but thats just me. and i only needed one gig of memory not 2 gigs. it's working quite fast.
It's not that people literally hate it, it's just technically not a webmaster's first choice yet. It runs well for most home users, but it's not reliable enough for a common webmaster running more in-depth programs.
What exactly are some of these in-depth programs? I'm a webmaster running Vista since RTM status and I haven't had any compatibility issues.
As with any new OS, you need a new machine. You can't expect new Technology to work with outdated hardware and everything. Gotta update and you'll be fine
Vista is not that bad, u really don't have to upgrade if u are not willing to spend some cash, I have a Dell GX620 that I have upgrade to a 4gig of ram and I love it.
