    I have a love/hate relationship with Google...

... I love most of their services -- including Adwords.

But I hate their sneaky tricks... one is their negative keyword suggestion tool. It's a joke. Think about it -- why would Google help you spend less money with them. I'd rather see them not offer a negative keyword suggestion tool... I'd respect them more.

I also don't like dealing with a company that was quitely funded by the CIA (yep, the same group responsible for all of the terror in our world). It's true, Google was funded by our government from day 1 -- how do you think they grew so quickly. And Google is using all of our internet browsing information to profile us. Heck, they even admit using our microphone to listen to us (even if they're turned off) -- Google doesn't deny this... they even justify it claiming it helps deliver more targeted ads based on some excuse that they're listening to our TVs to determine what we like. Very evil.

With that said, here's a much better way to develop your own list of negative keywords:

By the way, here's proof that Google is listening to us:

And here's the article detailing how Google was initially funded:

    Pretty interesting, eh?

The 'expanded match' is a still a mystery to me - I have a couple of adgroups I like it for, because it saves me having to think of every mis-spelling and odd query, and I load that group with negatives - but every now and then I find I'm getting really odd and inappropriate clicks again. Do google tweak the algo they use for it? Obviously I add those things to my negative list - but it also makes me think - how much of an ad to people ever actually read?

I'll back it up... it's usually true.

But don't believe us... try it out -- run all three options on the same search query and see for yourself.

Have to disagree there. Google realizes that by heping you select the right negative keywords you'll end up with a better ROI and will continue to advertise with them. If your ROI blows you'll cut spending all together.

Using nothing but Google's suggestions for negative keywords I've seen cost per conversion cut by 60% in various accounts and verticles. Maybe it's not the most comprehensive tool out there but to dismiss it all together is a mistake.

edit/add - I've also never seen anything that leads me to believe exact match is the most expensive. I've analyzed TONS of data too.

Can I use adwords for clicks directly leading to product page or I have to have my own website between landing page and adword ad.
